With the old versions, I would apply a package on wednesday and it would finally apply by friday afternoon. This version took about 30 to 40 seconds to apply and it didn't even "wonk" out explorer. I've only applied it twice on XP, so here's hoping it stays this way. I'll take a guess and think it will do the same or better on Vista and Win7. Good job.
I would like to see Marinara and Eqilibrium updated to XP and PixOS and Pixxy updated to Vista/7.
I'd have to second that but include Mini OS for Vista/7 also.
Been having some troubles with the "Parameters are Inconcorect" errors, just by choosing images from the dropdown list. The section it's been happening in is the "XP specific section". The whole thing stops working. The only way I can close it is the old "control, alt, delete" method and add it manually. XP Home (SP3).
Neil, I think we're going around in circles over a non-issue. On a scale from 1 to 10, this is a -3. Not that big a deal. The transparency thing. I add it from the dropdown list. It wouldn't change the code unless I deselected and reselected. If I import, it would add it automatically. That's just how it's doing it for me. Don't know if that is how it was designed to work. Again, not that big a deal as long as I know when and how it's doing it on <span style="text-decoration:
Skinstudio will automatically add that value IF the image selected is a TGA
OK. Figured it out. When adding a TGA, I de-select the transparency, then re-select it and it shows up correct. I'll be honest, I'm not impressed with it being image aware. Have we become that lazy we can't check a simple box?
I downlowded the new version yesterday. Where did the alpha transparency button go? I've been having to add it manually, code edit, to all my images. On some images it adds it, but sets it to "0" by default. I have to manually change it to "1".
In the "Section Based" edit mode, selecting "Edit Controls" on the left, then selecting "Edit Tooltips", I get Frame, Start Menu and Taskbar Textures. Is this a bug? All the other controls are missing....background, arrows, config button and close button.
Who are these guys, again? [e digicons]*_*[/e]
The included skins are part of the WB distribution package. Obviously they are to be considered BETA just the same as the rest of whatever is included in the installation.
Since when, did Stardock start Beta testing thier windowblind skins? I guess I didn't get that memo. The program is in beta, not the skins. Sorry! In over 10 years, I've never seen Stardock say they are releasing a skin, that's 80 or 90 percent done. Nice try.
I think Z71s comments: are
This is all for XP. The text for the righthand startmenu is to dark. The tray arrow is wrong. It's showing up and down. ALL, and I do mean all, the menus are showing black backgrounds. (Start menu, favorites, taskbar and desktop menu). ALL of the shell style images aren't done. The logoff and shutdown dialog buttons are skinned but not applied. The non-perpixel close and min buttons are showing pink. This is from using antialiasing over magic pi
Mike, that's OK. Like you, I too leave the small pics blank, most of the time. Yes, I was referring to the small icons, not the small pics. No harm done. This is now my default skin. ;)
Mike, I use XP 90% of the time. I'm still an XPer. I use what I like. I still like XP. I just dual boot Vista and now Win 7 solely to skin them, also. I'm confused though. You did make icons for it, you just left the control panel one blank. Sometimes you do, sometimes you don't. I just don't like to download or purchase a skin, that still has those awful default icons showing. They stick out like a sore thumb. If I pay for something, it better be 100% skinned. The freebies, I'll let
The explorer Bg's can be removed in the XP version to remedy the issue.
Yes, I agree, that is one way to do it. Or you can go into Advanced Settings and make sure the "I want skins to be able to apply textures to the back of explorer windows" is un-checked. That fixed it right up. :)
Yes, I still use XP. No need to throw away something I paid for, that still works fine for me. Never had a problem. Knock on wood. Do you still use XP or do you skin it blindly? I did fix it. I noticed you used one icon for all of them, so I just added that one. No, the skin is unusable without that icon. Can't believe you asked me that.
Mike, could you do me a favor. Could you start skinning "all" of the small shellstyle icons. I've noticed in about 90% of your skins, these aren't done. The control Panel icon isn't skinned. In this one, you did skin the main 3, though. Thanks. It's appreciated. Oh, and the skin looks fantastic. Will be great for every day use.
I had the same thing happen on my computer. How I fixed it: Open Impulse. Unistall WB and reboot. Run a cleaner, like CCleaner. Reboot. Open Impulse, install WB, but instead of rebooting, click "RUN" in the bottom right hand corner. It should (keep your fingers crossed) apply. Do the exact same for the rest. That's how I did it. Hope that helps.
Long lost relative......???
Not a clue. They could have went with GarbageManKitty or MirsguyKitty. How about FrogboyKitty? [e digicons][/e]
:Off Topic: Interesting User Name......?
Xiandi, fantastic points. All of them.
or not skinnable in the way they would like it to be
Overlays on "all" buttons. Taskbar, more than anything. My ultimate wish, would be to have animated overlays, but I don't see that happening for at least another 20 years or at all.
Looks good but the Large image, in the XP Control Panel, is wrong in this one, also. The bg image is white and the bg is dark. I hate to bring it up but if you're going to do it.....
There has been a small update to the skin
Thanks for the update.
Large XP Control Panel image needs fixed. Image BG is white, needs to be dark to match the background. Other than that, nice simple skin.
I'm right there with ya, DrJBHL. Same thing for me. I always have to apply through properties. Also, I've had Vista since day 1 and have never seen the animations....downloads, move, empty trash, etc... All I've ever seen is the classic download animation.
Oh and only Star Trek geeks like me will appreciate this but we're working on a mirror universe version of the Trek theme. New widget, some new icons, tweaked the theme a little and will do new wallpapers. Called Star Trek: Terran Empire. Next is we're doing TNG and the Borg.
Is this before or after Omega........we've been waiting since winter 2008. ;)
I just wish I knew what was causing the "all white taskbar" on my Vista machine. Other than that, it's very well done. Oh, and what's the deal with the "taskbarhorzcrack.tga"?
