Win 3.1 apps were 16 bit and I believe 16 bit apps only work on the 32 bit version of the OS, not the 64 bit one.
Which is one of the reasons why MS put XP mode in the Professional version of Win 7. [e digicons]:D[/e]

I recently upgraded an XP machine AND a Vista (32) machine to 7. The Vista I upgraded to the 64 bit 7 using a program called PC Mover Upgrade Assistant by Laplink that moved my settings AND programs to the new OS. A few I had to re-install but so far most of them are working well! I used the same program for the XP machine and even though I was upgrading fro

Although I imagine with Bootcamp, parallels desktop, VMware Fusion and others the point is probably moot. I use PCs because: I can afford them, I learned on them, I use them at work, all my home software is PC, and if something wears out or breaks, I can replace it myself and not have to bring it to an Apple store. My Vista (ke ) stopped opening folders in the same window. Now every time I double click on a folder, it opens in it's own window, even though to is set to use same window. If I want to drill down several folders, I get a trail of open windows! Hopefully my 7 discs will arrive tomorrow and I can move on to a good OS.

I've been using the RC since it came out and I LOVE IT! [e digicons] I have it dual-booted with Vista Home Premium on one computer and XP on another! I'm waiting impatiently for my 7 disks to arrive. Even though I have been using the 32 bit Win 7 RC I have finally decided to go with the 64 bit, as it is the future even though I onl
I find it even more hilarious that people are replying to the OP after 2 years.
Then again, some people talk to themselves every day! (and not even on a cell) I've been using Win 7 since the beta, now the RC. I've already pre-ordered my copies! I have actually installed the RC on an old, old computer that has only 512 Mb of ram! (it's kinda slow, but it installed and runs!) The old GeForce4 MX 440 AGP graphics
