I enjoyed Of Mice and Men as well. Was always moved by Steinbeck's writing and ended up reading most of his novels. My favourite was The Winter of Our Discontent and, due to this thread, have decided to reread it.

...leads me to suspect those are the brokeback mountains in the backroun. Reminds me of the gay man that went to the doctor suffering from a cracked vertibrae. When the doctor asked how he injured himself he replied, "broke back, mountin' " BTW, isn't

I see the banana as just the opposite. The earliest mention of the banana as a cultivated crop dates to 5000 B.C.E.(Before the Christian Era) There is other evidence to suggest that humans may have been cultivating the fruit as much as 10,000 years ago. It is not unreasonable to think that the banana developed to it's present state, (most notably the Cavendish), through a 7000 to 10,000 year process where humans would select those from the yearly crop that were best in flavour and most conven

i think it was obviously implied from the protests and such... why else would you not want to meet the vice-president? because you heard she doesnt take a shower? ... Didn't feel it was implied at all. As I said, there may have been no reason to decline meeting the Vice-President other than "I just do

I read the article over a couple of times. Didn't see anything indicating that Sir Paul declined the meeting for political reasons. Sometimes, people don't want to meet someone because they trully don't have any interest in meeting them. Hell, I do it all time.

Lots of popups at this link. (and I run a couple of popup blockers). And something tried very, very hard to download and install itself on my computer. Fortunately, I was able to click Cancel often enough that it finally went away. Perhaps that's the true fury of Cheney? LOL Funny picture though.

Congrats on the Ibanez. Acoustic man here. My baby is a Martin Guitar Limited Edition HD-40 Tom Petty. Saved a long, long time for this but it was worth it. With a set of Martin medium strings this sweetheart rings out crisp and clear, and the action is as soft and easy as butter. (Good, now that age has brought a little arthritis to my fingers). I also have a second guitar for messing around. Strangely enough it's made by Fender. Not really known for their acoustic guitars, this

I find that funny and sad. Right wing, and liberal. yet it is the right wing that is defying them, and the liberal trying to excuse them. So much for labels. You read what I wrote, right? We are actually in agreement on this occasion. I'm libera

I do NOT defend Islam. How could I or any other liberal minded person for that matter, defend such a extreme right wing religious fundamentalist movement. If extreme right wing fundamentalist christians were trying to force their belief system on me or the masses and threatening violence if I/we did not comply, guess what. My back would be way up. And I'd be wading in swinging. So when exteme right wing fundamentalist muslims try and do the same thing I get just adamant that they

Now you can all be politically correct and get outraged. Uhhhh what about us atheist, Iconoclast? Surely there must be a cartoon out there to offend us too. I want to be offended, just like the next guy. I want to be enraged too. I want a reason to burn embassies. So, could you please track down an offending atheist cartoon t

I'm paraphrasing here. I believe everyone is an athiest to a degree. It's just that I believe in one less god than you. When you fully comprehend why it is you can dismiss other gods then you will understand why I can dismiss yours.

I'm all for it. I'm more than willing to look the other way while the West teaches these idiots what true violence and reprisal is. I say unleash the fury of the West on these cretens. I say bring upon them every conceivable horror know to man. I say "Cry havoc, and let slip the dogs of war." P.S. You might find this hard to believe but I'm actually not being sarcastic here. I'm 100 percent sincere.

Simply put, America does not care! And some cant accept that. Yet. Hmmm, I wonder if America would care if we up here decided to really go left and elect a communist government? They might care, just a little bit maybe.

I did intend on keeping everyone up to date on the polls as they closed across Canada. However, The Canada Elections Act states the following: Prohibition – premature transmission of results 329. No person shall transmit the result or purported result of the vote in an electoral district to the public in another electoral district before the close of all of the polling stations in that other electoral district. Since other Ca

You got a weird government! The NDP is left of the Liberals. Why would they team up with the Conservatives? It would seem they would team up with the Liberals and outvote the conservatives. Yeah, it's strange. Of course, you're right, it's not probable that the NDP would join forces with the Conservatives but anything is possible. I can imag
