the best advice anyone will give you? "Strategies" are not what you need.

I didn't say they were new. I said that it was glad to see them up and running. With all the big time clans having stopped playing Sins in waiting for 1.1, It's good to see clans other than DT starting to trickle back.
I think another viable solution to that besides making the starting positions static is to set up more chokepoints on the maps. In AoE3, you could run your forces across the map fairly quickly, as where the ships in Sins move at a snails pace in comparison.
I'm afraid that with as 2 dimensional as the game may look, you can't just build a smathering of defenses in one area and hope it holds off an opponent. It's far too easy to run away from the defenses and attack other key critical areas.
I think an idea for boosting TEC into a viable force might be to start them out with two civic labs. That way, they have a colonization bonus, a research bonus, and can truly go fast with the trade ports.
From my experience in the RTS genre, there will always be a power unit. "Balance" patches just shift the power from one unit to another, benefitting experts, as they are usually the first to find the new unit. These tips are aimed at being universal truths.
now let's behold some losses to DT. ;) Glad to see another clan is up and running. I look forward to playing some clan matches.
has not been fixed. Cykur did it to Raging I believe, or the other way around? Either way, I think it's more of an exploit than a viable strategy. :p
I've noticed one significant trend on this forum, and that's the apparent need for a set-in-stone strategy that is going to lead noob jimmy into pro status. If you want a set strategy, here's one for you. Click game options, and then either A) Quit game, or B) surrender. First off (because I see noobs asking about TEC so often), in all honesty, someone asking for a "strategy" shouldn't be playing TEC. You should be playing advent if you want to play competitively. Why? Because playing
There is no better option. There is only a lesser of two evils. For this discussion, I'd say turrets, because they require no overhead to build (I.E. research). Your main defense should always be ships, no matter what. Ships can both defend and force the cesation of an offense. If your fleet isn't big enough to beat his fleet, then why not raid his planets and force him to chase yours down? His lost economy to your raiding will hopefully mean your economic advantage, which will eventual
Let me also state that the best way to combat advent is to join them. You can't understand a race's weakness without learning about the said weakness first hand.
To all the clans posting websites and asking about challenges, I will be more than happy to check them out and start to schedule matches when I get the time. Right now, I'm a little busy with my MOS school in the Marines, but things ought to be a lot more relaxed around here in a week or two. By then I should be online a good 2-3 hours a night at least. To those waiting for a website link for us, we may create a forum for the clan but will not be sharing the URL. I'm afraid that this is
Wow, a little snooty are we? Must be british royalty or something by the sound of it.
let me add "Joining a 2v2 SKILLED game or EXPERT game or GOOD game or ELITE game" when you are new to the game. Obviously the title filters you out of the pool of possible players.
Good afternoon ladies and gentlemen, I now formally announce the formation of Dream Team, known by our [DT] Tag online. We are actively searching for other clans interested in clan match-offs. It's time to leave a swath of broken hearts across Ironclad Online. The current clan roster- [DT]CoN (myself), formally known as _CoNfuSioN_ [DT]WHIPperSNAPper, formally known as WHIPperSNAPper [DT]Howthe?, formally known as Howdudothat? [DT]Cykur, formally known as
Considering 1/4th of DT are engineers, I'd say we're set there too. LOL
You're well known on the forums and the online section buddy. We have yet to play a 1v1, so basque in the glory while it lasts. Mwuahahaha. :p
Half of this thread is populated by DT members.
Excellent point Drexion. It pains me to see an opponent with a few more illums than me, but all his illums are doing 2-3 damage less than mine. I don't even bother running from the fight, since I know that despite his slightly superior numbers, I have the advantage in DPS. Also keep in mind that damage scales with the number of ships you have. If you have 5 illuminators, then a 1 damage upgrade (each upgrade roughly) only adds 10-15 damage to the battle(accounting for the side beams) (a
I would say not to wait, as the income generated is greater the sooner the upgrade is established. If you're in a cutthroat expert game where your opponent is a couple of jumps away, then you could make the argument, but most games last well beyond the 27 minute mark, and by that time the upgrade is generating full profit. I'm also a big believer in the concept that an unused credit is a wasted credit. If you aren't planning on a kamikazi all out rush, then just pocketing those credits
Let's all just put it mildly by saying that the online system could "Use some work"
The only real difference between a good TEC economy and a good advent economy is one Harmony lab. Even then, more efficient ships mean that fewer have to be produced early on to take over planets, leaving more for infrastructure upgrades. If your having problems with economy as advent, it's all in your head. Most people think of TEC as a booming civ, so boom with them. If people thought of Advent as a booming civ as well, they'd boom with advent as well and all would be the same.
although the focus has been on TEC caps throughout most of the conversation, let me also add that the Egg is a great cap killer in it's own right and the mothership adds invaluable support to a fleet of illums. In fact, I've had some success targeting the mothership before the illums in large battles because the mothership can no longer regen shields and malice my fleet, both of which add exponential value to the battle. For TEC, the choice may not be so cut and dry, but for Advent or V
as said above, there are so many other better options in 1v1s and 2v2s that pay off much faster. For a 1v1 (and usually a 2v2 too) I love assailants, which my friends and I are starting to think are more powerful than illuminators cost/dmg wise. For a bigger game, go Transporters and Kanraks or fast tech to enforcer/subverter for a slower but more powerful attack.
in an intense multiplayer game, I tend to leave my main cap back to assault the planet while I push forward with my fleet. This lets me continue the offensive while assaulting the planet I just attacked, and a cap ship is hardly a floating piece of meat against a few frigates. The first encounter (the one where I destroy his fleet or vice versa) usually takes out enough of his fleet that the last concern is the world I'm sieging.
