As a result of the bombings in Bali over the weekend can we assume that the Compere of the United States will now lobby for an attack on Indonesia? Probably not when one reads the reports .... most casualties appear to be non American! New conspiricy theory, the Washington Sniper is really Bin Laden ! <img src="http://im

It was a Canadian engineer who designed the so-called "Super Cannon", which the Iraqis may or may not have been attempting to build. The design was really obselete in concept and as a weapon it was plain stupid .... a huge structure in a fixed position. The Israelis decided that it was not a good idea, MOSSAD 'removed' the Canadian gent in Paris (I think, can't be bothered checking the reports) with the well used and effective 22 Mag Sig-Sauer to the back of the skull... <img src="http:/

Griffinme, #1, Agreed, no contest. #2, Assumed, possible, even probable but unproven. #3, I believe that is what the Russians assumed, and was this to be "Liberation" not "Occupation"? #4, Interesting, the US, Israel and 'other countries'? See #7. #5, You don't think Iraq's "neighbours" might be a tad keen on extending their boundaries at all? #6, This is about keeping up appearances? Really??? #7, see #4 .... au contraire? #8, Sure, Granada, Panama come readily to mind. datarat, 'Food

Lecrayon, you put the European point well, a very valuable contribution. I doubt you can lay blame at the feet of Mr Bush, a political party makes policy, the elected representative presents that policy via an address, scripted with care. To be fair, the Clinton/Rabin/Arafat agreement was making progress, at the risk of getting dumped on I must point out the fact that Mr Rabin was assasinated by one of his own, and in light of the present Gaza policy his death has a distinct smell of a S

bakerstreet. You understand History and I (might!) understand it as well, the point re 'French Indo China' is only to keep it in the context of 'Modern History' My 'unpalatable' prefix is relating to the average person (aka 'the bastard public! ) as I know the solution, one that has nothing to do with trying

Bakerstreet, unpalatable fact #3, the seeds of the conflict in Vietnam were sown by Churchill and Harry Trueman. Ho was as much a member of the WW2 Allies as the Maquis and the Polish resistance .... they ended up being screwed as well!

A few unpalatable facts. The Gulf was not about the 'liberation of Kuwait', it was about retaining the supply of oil to the West under a 'friendly' government. The Coalition (read 'US') policy was not to remove Hussein as (in the view of US 'strategists'!) this would result in a 'power gap' which it was feared Iran would move to fill. Of course, Iran were not in a position to be a real threat then and remain so today. An unwritten policy exists (and has done so for at least 100 y

Go Windowblinds. It is the most flexible and best supported. StyleXP (which is not free either) skins everything but WB lets you select what you want skinned, and if you subscribe to WC you will be able to actually download themes! <img src="http://images.stardock.com/images/smiles/sb.gif" border=0 ALIGN="absmiddle" ALT="Pow

If you're downloading from the WC browser the zips are saved in the browser 'download' folder. You'll have to unzip them and drop the file into the SysMetrix Themes folder. Make sure you get to the folder with the downloaded theme, some are inside a couple of secondary folders. Just right-click on SysMetric and select SysMetric configuration and load the theme. So far I think only a couple of the first skins have been a bit of a hassle. Nifty little proggie.<img src="http://i

I could be wrong but if you are only running WB or IP as a 'stand-alone' prog then you wouldn't get the Betas as you need the Component Manager to access them. Like I said, I could be wrong but no doubt one of the admins can put you straight. <img src="http://images.stardock.com/images/smiles/sb.gif" border=0 ALIGN="absmidd

IMHO you use the best of the various systems that suit your needs. I need to use my G4 because all the print media people I deal with are Mac users (aka Mac snobs!) but the system is OK for that purpose. For once, MS have a really good OS in XP pro, once you get rid of all the crappy bells and whistles, and it runs fine on my 'built by the Wombat' box. Linux Mandrake is great for tinkering w
