Ahhh, the picture at last. Very nice. Like the colorful "halation".

Thanks Floozie. I actually came here in search of something to take my mind off things. Well done!
Wow, is this guy serious? He wouldn't know that killing someone is wrong if the 10 commandments didn't tell him? I'm pretty sure the commandments don't say anything about drunk driving (although perhaps they should).
When are you leaving? What's the plan? Hope you're doing ok.
Thanks for the kind words Danny! The pool is an "infinity pool", which means it just looks like the beach and the sand collide. There is actually about 10 feet between pool and beach! A lot of people pose on the "infinite" edge of the pool for pictures since it looks like they are walking on water. I declined that pose, since I look like a sausage in a bathing suit. Don't get me wrong, I'm a really cute sausage..
I think you make an excellent point here. First impressions are important. I think announcing your homosexuality - assuming it is not in context with the conversation - would be kind of like saying, "Hi, I'm Joe. You got a problem with that??" Having said that, I know quite a few gay people, and I don't think a single one of them has ever brought up the subject upon our first meeting. In my experience they've always let me figure it out on my own, or brought it up later as part of a m
I am going to write this blog about my trip to Cancun this Thanksgiving. Please forgive me, as it seems that I left any writing skills I may have had in Cancun, and now this blog sounds like a third grade paper entitled "What I Did With My Thanksgiving Vacation". I am mortified, and yet I persevere. This Thanksgiving my better half and I went to Cancun with my sister and brother-in-law. I have never actually been out of the country before, except a brief trip across the border into Ca
I'll be happy with anything suggested so far. Although I'm not a huge fan of California Piza Kitchen (ironically) -Kristin
I hear you Danny. All the things you are saying, and all the things you aren't. The holidays can be unbelievably stressful for many, and there probably isn't much I can say to make it better. I agree with you about the drugs, though. In any event, if you have more to say, I'll be happy to hear it. Oh! And I hope you have a very happy Christmas and New Year! (And a good year next year)
Popular skin designers Skinplant, creators of the “Hulk” and “Spider-Man” Skinpacks, have created a new Skinpack for those of you who want to personalize your PC. Unorth
I think right now that performance is probably their top concern. But in the meantime, have you tried creating your own personal site?
Smack? Try "throttle".
I would guess that the community feeling here at JU is a huge part of the draw. I can certainly say that the reasons I blog are 1 part entertainment to 2 parts existential angst. I don't know how many JU's will really like the term "foist", as those who read the blogs are willing participants! I hope you'l share the results of your blogging study with us.
Fascinating. I also thank you for posting this. I have a friend who's mother is a lesbian, and she told me she used to hide that fact from her friends, calling her mother's partner her "aunt". It does seem like the most damage children of lesbian couples take is from outside of the family. I agree with Floozie that just loving our children can go a long way toward raising them with a healthy, well-adjusted outlook.
Hey thanks. I was just realizing I should put my resolution into a more positive light: Resolution for next year: Laugh more.
New Year’s Resolutions It may be early to begin talking about New Year’s resolutions as Christmas has not yet stampeded me, but I think it’s important. This has been one of the worst years of my life. Actually, January was ok except for being a little chilly, but the rest of it stank. My husband had taken a job across the country, and I sta
Great article. I think most, if not all of us, long for an adventure. I know I do. If you have never heard this before I recommend you check this out: NPR has a program called "This American Life". You can find it at: Link In the search box on the left hand side toward the bottom type in "Superpowers". It will take you to an archived file of a show they did in 2001 regarding people and Superpowers. The sh
Danny - I am one of the bloggers that has a lower ranking, and I'm ok with that. I'm just not very prolific right now. I do read a lot of the blogs written here, and occasionally I'll comment. I haven't read all your blogs, but I have to say: I like you. I like your honest and open style, I like your unassuming comments on other blogs and I'm very glad you are here on JU.
I say go now. Go live with Mom if you can. I'm sure there's lots of issues with that, and I understand wanting to save. Is there a job for you on the old base? Your indecision really isn't about whether or not to leave, it's about when to leave, right? Could you get a place there while you wrap up your current job and obligations? My advice is get out now. You are not doing either one of you any favors by staying. He promised he'd get therapy
Hmm. Reading your blog the world seems to suddenly move in slow motion. I don't usually respond a lot, but I lurk. I read. This blog frightens me. Are you serious about wanting to commit suicide, or are you blowing off steam? I hope, hope, hope that you do not wish to kill yourself. If you do, I really really hope you ask for help from someone, anyone, everyone. It does sound like you are going through more than just a "rough patch". You are
Dagny, are you aware that you can hide your true identity whike on JU? Considering the actions of your husband the week before your wedding, perhaps hiding yourself a little better would be a good idea. I do NOT wish to hear of a repeat of that adventure, or worse. Or worse. Get away from that man. Got yer back sister! KH
Sorry I didn't see this sooner my dear. All I can say right now is to hang in there. Cold comfort for a cold world. It'll warm up soon, I hope. KH
I love the relative anonimity of blogging. It's very vicarious - you are interacting with people, but you are all alone. Sweet, sweet vicarious life.
Karmagirl I worked at UPS when they were getting ready to strike about 8 years ago. I was a temporary employee - by choice; I was a college student at the time. There were also permanen non-union employees and union employees. I cannot tell you how many times the union and the "other" employees bumped heads. The non-union employees actually got slightly better benefits and the same pay as the union, and yet the unionites went around telling us
Too right. I've done nothing to support gay rights so far except to cast my votes. I think I'll have to start doing more. K
