OK....say you contact a plumber to install some taps...which he does....but you do not pay him. Do we call that 'theft', 'fraud', 'breach of contract', or just plain 'being an arsehole'? ['you' may also never have intended to pay him at all].
I am a plumber (currently an aprentice, about a month from my journeyman license) that works for a company and that actualy happens from time to time. Our solution to this problem? We just get our good ol' budd

The laws I belive are a step in the right direction on internet usage. Getting yourself caught and convicted of the same crime 3 times and then punished for it is nobody's fault but the individual's own. The issue of privacy comes to mind for me concerning on how information is gathered and processed and by who. One example is Blizzard who uses a "warden" program for World of Warcraft to police users and keep constant check on players in order to discourage cheating o

LOL, That made me think about the robot chicken episode where they did a spoof of the movie 300. Just google up "robot chicken 1776", its a good laugh. Sweet tea for me please.

For a laser defence, what about covering the surfaces of your ship with a semi-reflective/reflective material, coating, ect.? Unless of course there are lasers that can cut through mirrors, then that idea wouldn't hold water. Would flak weapons work in space? You could build a missle with a conventional explosive warhead with a shaped charge, then pack it with say, depleted uranium pelets. Depleted uranium is so dense having a cloud of it flying at you
That is just the crew section, in space wast heat doesn't dissipated freely (like in the atmosphere) it need to be radiated.Space radiators are those big wing like things, for a warship you would like to make them as small as possible in order to make them less vulnerable to enemy fire, problem is that minimizing radiator size means running them at higher temperature.
For starters that link is awsome please supply more that would make great desktop wallpaper. Stealth probably won't be totaly useless in combat. You may not be able to completely hide yourself, but hiding/distorting your true nature, size, combat capabilites, ect. ect. would be a good tatic. Got a few questions tho, Since there is no stealth in space, if you "see" someone comming from lightyears away. Doesn't that mean your intell is allready a few years out of date? What if you had faster than light travel? Doesn't that mean you could in effect see yourself dep
Okay, about nuclear bombs, looks like both wanderer and Jedmonds only talk about fission weapon, what about pure fusion weapon? Not much worries about radiation (with right combination...) which can both be advantage and disadvantage...
Sorry about that, In my orignal post I advocated using a multible, multi-functional fleets of ships not unlike what SINS currently uses. I like the thought of lasers becoming a weapon of choice in space combat. It could remov

I know DOTA is a mod for another game and the idea has allready been used, But has anyone concidered making a DOTA style mod for SINS? I would like to have mission specific style game play centered around captial ships or by extention a small task force.

quote]Nowhere near doomsday.
True its nowhere near doomsday people have envisioned. Death would only happen slower for the unlucky that would have to survive. Possible weather patern changes, colapse of a world economy at large, Massive political power vacums, and the enriched urainium/plutonium set loose by the explosions would filter through every part of the ecosystem. Congrats, I remember after just learning the tutorial and playing the first couple of easy solo missions I felt confident enough to take on a couple of normal AI. Long story short, I got slapped around.

@ wanderer, Only to add more to the discussion of space combat, I would like to ask questions regarding aspects of the nuke spamming you haven't covered in explanations. How much weapon grade enriched uranium/plutonium would you need to build all the warheads? As little as I know about enriched uranium, doesn't it take about 10x the ammount of raw uranium to make the refined ammount of enriched uranium? How many warheads would you have to have to allow you to spam them at enemies? 1,000

LZRS!!!!!!!!!! pew, pew, pew. I completley forgot about lasers becomming viable weapons. Right now we are using microwaves as a means to cook people alive, google up pain ray. And the military has been working on lasers for years. SINS Space station/Deathstar anyone? And railguns to, they exist now and think of what would happen to them or what new weapons would be devoloped with a thousand years or research and devolopment.

It would be a great idea, seizing a ship out numbered would add new aspects to the game. It would let you build your forces without expending recources to build more ships. Yet I don't see capital ships as seizeable targets, they have such large crews a boarding party probably wouldn't be able to take the ship fast enough before the ship's comander flipped a self detenation switch or something. TEC, Advent, or Vassari crews seizing a captital ship would lack the training required to use the spec

The Novalith cannons I feel are the most reckless and unintentionaly hilarious weapons ever. By a show of hands how many people have bombed themselves? (raises hand) And the real wackiness could happen when the lovable yet incompetent Ensin Wiggles replaced the nuclear payloads with vasaline and mayple syrup. In my fantasy space world anyways.

USAF, I could rant at you incoherently trying to ruin everyone's fun about a debate using cacultations based in theroy placed around concepts that the scientific commmunity at large will admit that they do not have a full grasp of. Using said arguements as tools in a subject that doesn't exist to begin with. If that'll help. All we got was a double edged sword that inflamed popultaions and caused paranoia all around the world. We can only say we know for certain what happens on a planet since we have used and tested them. As for space, there is credible evidence on what may or could happen an
