Well, although phase travel establishes that they can phase vessels (we don't see it too often with structures) and they can manipulate variables such as time duration (as is necessary for travel), we don't know if maybe phasing smaller objects is more difficult. Mines are rather large for what they are and have a delay in their phase system. I dunno. On the one hand, I don't put too much belief in something that I can't test and prove. On teh other hand, I know I have a limited number of answers to just about anything. I don't necessarily knock the idea of a higher power just because I'm not perfect and really don't have any concrete proof that they're wrong. Then again, belief without reason or self-examination is both foolish and dangerous. I guess it depends on what your beliefs are and how you handle them.

If someone insists on trying to argue religion with me, I'll point out how their beliefs don't necessarily match the religion they claim, but it's only if they push and more in the hope that they might later reexamine their beliefs. Rarely works, but not my problem.

Captain, we've taken a hit to the forward deflectors. She's going to tear apart if we don't... oh, hi there. Thought I was somewhere else. Well, I figure two things concerning the mines. 1) Why would you make mines if shields shrug them off? 2) If they're phased (thus can go through shields and all) and are set to unphase within a shield bubble, wouldn't that suck? :) Anyway, I actually have the AI try to build starbases and mines at the entrance to the jump lane all the time.

Mines have always been a killer in warfare. There is no military vessel that has taken a mine and walked away fully functional. The idea that space vessels can encounter mines that actually function is space (harder than it sounds) and walk away without a problem is crazy. Given both the size of mines and the very purpose, those things would be seriously deadly.

I understood the basic separation from the get go. If I understand General Veers correctly, I think my main fleet is back in non-DS space. I could be wrong, in which case some of my earlier posts are out of whack. As for the layout of the sector, it means little to me until system names are up and running. We're speaking Hebrew. Shalom means Hello, goodbye and peace. In this case, I'm saying hi. Aleichem (the ch sounds like you're coughing up flem) means something like 'be with you'. So he's saying Peace be with you. Shabbat is sabbath, so I'm saying Peaceful Sabbath (a general greeting for the Jewish sabbath which goes from Friday at sundown to Saturday at sundown).
