I rule a peaceful galaxy (I bribe everyone into ceasefires). 99% of my planets are all-econ. I don't have any military ships or for that matter, I barely have any starbases. And I don't give a rat's ass about morale (as long as it is at an overall 45%, any more is good, but for me, it's rare). And that's just in a nutshell.

Now we have a Diplo argument going!!! What next??? Space Cows???
If I had a credit card, I just might use Impulse (I believe that's what everyone's talking about).
I agree. Although at mid-game I manage to bring in 2 Million BC's at the least. At least at that time I can spend it on social projects, starbases and ships. And because I don't play for the score (I play for fun), the penalty doesn't really phase me all that much.
On the diplo screen, I actually want to see real threats and all kinds of stuff like that. If you don't know what I mean by threats: I mean stuff like: "Your mom was a Space Worm's Sleez Bag, now why don't you give me X amount of money, and I won't make you mine!!!" You should be able to actually compose your requests, demand, whatever. So from a few drop down lists, you would select pieces of text which will then be put into order to form an actual sentance. After the
Wow!!! Our Nazi friend SS (Sole Soul) (LOL) has alot of Karma!!! I wouldn't have expected a Nazi to have so much Karma!!! (Just joking mate) Maybe they should put some type of Nazi party into GalCiv3!!! LOL!!! Sole Soul (who from now on I'll call SS) wouldn't hear the end of that one from me!!! LOL!!!
It doesn't really make any differance to me. My treasury is usually in the Trillions, and I'm making Millions of BC's per turn.
I would like to see carrier craft thrown in there. Having ships with minimal weaponry and defense, but alot of interior space to launch Tiny to Small sized suppourt craft (such as interceptors, bombers, etc.). Maybe I'll also start a post about the PERFECT GAME, see how much attention that one will get.........
I might actually start doing my best to get the Peacekeepers event. Start a war with every single civ, check!!!
In my games.... I am the peacekeepers. I literraly go about, buying every single one of the galaxie's warships (transports, defenders, you name it, I buy it from them). AND, I do all this without going into bankruptcy. LOL!!! I also bribe other civs into signing peace treaties with other civs. It's a waste of money, but it helps me develop better in the long run.
Wow my post was long. Also I've been noticing that the replies box has been getting glitchier. Especially when it comes to choosing font sizes. (Either that, or I'm on crack.....)
So about orbital starbases.... I was thinking (once again) along the lines of Star Wars Empire At War. I loved how the starbases were just these massive obstacles for an enemy invasion force, that just kept on spawning suppourt ships and fighters, which constantly harrassed you until you destroyed certain hardpoints (such as the hangers), in which case it would blow up. It doesn't have to be the same way in GalCiv3, I was just basing my idea on the one mentioned above. So what
If you missed that Galactic Doom.... I have a post on the previous page that I would like everyone to respond to. I think it's a good one.
I like the political humour that is going on. Imagine 100 replies all devoted to making fun of politicians!!! LOL!!! ROFLMAO!!! LMFAO!!! ROFL!!! Etc.....
Nice one Scout!!! I had a great idea based on starbases in orbit. I'm also trying to divert the focus away from the whole combat system argument. If only for a minuite. So here's my idea...... There should still be a cap on how many ships you can have in orbit around a planet. But if you were to build an orbital starbase (economic, influence, whatever), it would increase that cap by +5 up to +10. And the starbase would also affect the planet
I didn't say that the combat troops left at home are doing nothing, I just meant to show the numbers. I know that the military forces that are left on defense are training, inducting (more like abducting, joking btw) new recruits, and all that jazz. So in order to make the game slightly more interesting, any ships in orbit would affect the base morale, production, soldiering on that planet. For example, too many ships in orbit (providing that you can have more than 10 in GC3,
Does anyone pay attention to my replies? Or am I like non-existant to everyone?
I haven't come across them either. It is easier to get the Dread Lords event than Peacekeepers. When the Mega Pirate event happened to me, I didn't really have any ships going anywhere at all (except colony ships, this happened like 15 turns into the game on a gigantic). By that time however, the Drengins had already declared war on me with about 5 transports and 10 defenders (Suicidal difficulty btw), they were literally right next to my only 7 planets and were about to invad
What do you think goes on in the real world Willy? That's what happens with all the worlds millitary forces!!! 90% is left at home so the country doesn't get raped while their soldiers are all out fighting. Only 10% of the army is actually used to do the zarking fighting (Zarking: HitchHiker's Guide To The Galaxy swear word)!!! What happens in really extreme situations, is that 70% is left home, and 30% is out fighting. The only time you will ever
I like Galactic Doom's Combat System. It evens things out very well, and on top of that, I have always wanted to build mixed fleets. I thought it would be something fun to do one game. Then, I got turned into sub-atomic particles by everyone else because of it. I was leading economically, militarilly, influencially, you name it. But just because I wanted to build mixed fleets, everyone else pwned my ass for it. And I haven't played GalCiv2 since
A-(Beeping)-mazing! There is stuff here that even I didn't think of. I wonder what Mumble would want to see in GC3?....... It might just be interesting. Maybe someone should invite him over.......
The only kind of AI that would be able to stand up to a human intellectually.......... Is decades away from being built. But there are always things that an AI will never be able to emulate. Such as: Sheer Stupidity, Mindless Insanity, and Emotions (this last one is not relevant gaming-wise). There was many an RTS game that I won, just by using those two tactics (Mindless Insanity, and Sheer Stupidity)
This post is awsome. It's official. This is the post to end all posts.
It's so sane....... That it will work no matter how you slice it!
