Sorta reminds me of a Call of Duty 4 moment. I was attempting to take a screenshot of me "RoflKnifing" a guy, when the "RoflCopter" popped up (Yeah I'm using COD4 slang, whatcha gonna do?). I got wasted, but I got a really great "OH-SHIT-I'M-ABOUT-TO-DIE!!!!!" screenshot. Damn them missiles hurt.

I like your style Tetley. I am going to do that one day. Only research the first weapons techs, and max out the def and use tiny hulls to. Do tell us about how it turns out though.
That's why I like large maps. Because they're so chaotic, and there is a degree of unpredictability to everything. If I were to make a custom map, It would be Immense, it would have a lot of mining resources, There would be a bunch of Minors, as many as I can put, Dread Lords in the centre (or if I can have more, dread lords in 3 different areas at the least), No ascension resources, I consider that sortof a "Cheese" way to win, there would be at least 500 habitable planets,
The only time I've ever won a tech victory was as the Altairians in DA. The only reason I did it, was to just say I did. Got five high PQ worlds decked out with nothing but labs, and I just waited (for a great many turns).
1)It depends on how you take the whole situation. I personnally would not have put them there. But then again I play on gigantic maps (and i'm still on DA, no TA here). On a gigantic map this would be a lot of fun, but on a medium, it's just a kill joy, and a strategic nightmare. So try making a gigantic map this way, but then again, those are only my preferances. 2)If I had them on a smaller map like this, it would be on DL. In which case I would make a giant fleet of small ships
Yeah you sorta do Willy. And there is something everyone here missed. Although it's somewhat idiotic, you'll get more influence points from building that embassy or cultural exchange center on that tile. And if that planet is an economic planet, you will get more IP, not to mention a slight bump to tourisim, but not anything fantastic. And that's about all I have to say. Willy covered mostly evrything there was to comment on. Once again, EF signing off.
Wow I never thought of using a "cheese" tactic like that! You learn something new everyday! I don't arm my starbases period (unless I'm cheating, in that case it's like "OH WHAT THE HELL, MIGHT AS WELL!!!'). I only construct the modules and nothing else (like mining, speed, influence, sensor, etc. modules). Like Willy said, it's just not worth wasting all those constructors to defend them. Military starbases are only good for home defense, never frontli
These replies are nice. Once again, I'm too lazy to respond in detail right now.
First of all.... Nice Yoda impersonation. Second, Barney only teaches kids to sing at bullies in hopes that they won't get their skulls bashed in. However, singing only makes it worse. Third, are you trying to ask me what amount of my available space on starships is used up by attack/defense modules. If so, I try to keep it a close 50/50, and if anything 25/75 or 75/25 it depends on the situation. Attack is on left side of the sl
If I were to do something like that, I'd upgrade the same ship design three times for specific weapons/techs. And I also give out my weapons and defense techs like it was yesterdays trash. I find that the games are more interesting that way.
Really. So it only works for attack.
Shit you're right. I'll respond in detail later. I'm too lazy to read it at the moment.
I rarely design military ships until I have the Black Hole Weapons. Too much micromanagement, too many new weapons techs being researched at a time, too much money wasted, etc. I keep the galaxy at peace with eachother until I can design ships like that. Yeah, it's weird, I know. I don't spam races into going to war with one another, I try to keep them at peace. It is in my opinion more challenging, especially on Suicidal. And are you like a NOOB or som
But if he has luck, he rolls from 4-16, or in this case 3.75-15.[e digicons][/e] Luck is by far the best ability there is.[e digicons][/e] And if your party is at the same time Universalists, you would be able to roll from 8-16, or 7.5-15.[e digicons]}:)[/e] Thanks to the +25% Luck given by said party.[e digicons]}:)[/e] That is by far the only reason to be a Universalist.[e digicons]O:)[/e]
That's what I do in games like that. Buy the Damned things. And the only time that I ever got a truly "LUCKY" Precursor Ranger, was in year zero, two turns after colonizing a PQ 1 world, and buying one of the soil enhancement buildings. This was back in DA as well. I want TA so bad though.
Thus far the ideas are fantastic!!![e digicons]XD[/e] There's stuff here that I didn't even think of!!![e digicons]o_O[/e] I'll respond to each idea this weekend (perhaps).[e digicons][/e]
Once again your humour Jonnan is amazing.
One can dream can't he? And maybe this post will give Stardock some ideas to help speed up that process.
Sell colony ships to the Minor races (in which case they become Majors). It's fun having a galaxy dominated by Minors. If given enough ships, they can cause hell as well.
I like your thinking. This is well thought out. And long. I'll respond in detail tomorrow. So keep an eye out. All in all, thanks for repling. ROCK ON!!!
About Hyperion Shrinkers "Farming"......... It's possible (but rare) just as Swicord said. However it's more feazible if you use the cheat that let's you switch races. All you have to do is buy that shrinker, switch civs and control that civ(after selling them the tech), and fast-buy it on one of their planets, then capture it/trade for it if you're traditional. Or you can just use the cheat that turns any enemy planet/ship/starbase/fleet over to your side. Any ships i
I like your sense of humour Jonnan. And Swicord, the last section of your reply sounds like something Einstein and Mumble would say.
Oh that'll be the day.[e digicons]:inlove:[/e] Say, can't you make your own galaxies in TA, along with customizing planets and their tiles or something.[e digicons]:annoyed:[/e] Just make a map like that, with a whole bunch of planets that are great for economy.[e digicons]*_*[/e] If you're too lazy to do it, you can always give me your game and I can do it for you.[e digicons][/e] And then send it to you somehow, in the form of a map-pack or mo
Lucky Rangers aren't that useful. By the time I (or my enemies) get one, I'm building ships (and fleets) that can take it out in one hit. They're only useful if you get one on your first year, then it's lucky. If I get one sometime after that, I sell to the highest bidder, or I scrap it. I sometimes even gift it, just to give the minors or a weak race a slight chance of winning their next space battle in a war. Eitherway, I get rid of it. No point payin
DAMN IT JONNAN!!![e digicons]>:([/e] YOU POSTED JUST BEFORE I DID!!![e digicons]#:([/e] JERK!!![e digicons]:annoyed:[/e] (Just Kidding)[e digicons][/e] (Nice Math by the way!!![e digico
