I don't have so much to suggest really... Well, I do, but it's things that are more complex than just impulse, I just think outside the box, sometimes even leaving the planet. I'm not very comfortable tossing out my most revolutionary ideas to just anyone though. :D There is one minor thing that annoys me about impulse though. Seems like they got infested with something nasty on their page... Norton blocked the nasty, and let me browse the page... Score Norton 1 - Avast 0 on usability. It *could* be a false positive, but with 2 detection engines catching it, I wouldn't go to that site unprotected for now.
It's also a real world item that look like this: (wikipedia) I would assume the reason the software is called fences is because it restricts icons within an area on the desktop the way a real fence restrict cows on a field. :D

Disable fences :: It's a very well hidden feature... :P Open the tools tab, go to more tools (a small link at the bottom of the window), then uncheck the "enable fences" checkbox. (it's a per user setting)
Open up the fences window, enter the "tools" tab, click on the tiny blue "more tools..." link on the bottom of the window. You'll find a checkbox labeled "Enable Fences" there, just uncheck it.

One thing I love about IKEA is that mostly you know what you get... Buy their cheap furniture, and you can rest assured that something will be badly fitting or something is missing... By some weird miracle you mostly end up with a functional piece of furniture anyway though... :P They do have some really well designed and thought through things, some of it dirt cheap too.
