As a rule, if they are attacking you, they will go through as few OWNED systems as possible. If you have one system right next to them and one that is three jumps away, but the systems between are not colonized by anyone, they will attack the closer one FIRST, and at some point will check out the other system to see if it's easier pickings, but I have never seen them go through more actualy colonized and owned systems than they have to in order to get there.

Hmm... disagree on several points 1)too much scripting. The question is not how much, but how good. Scripts and surprises can be fun and interesting. An AI that is gimped game after game is just opening the door for criticism of weak AI and a rude awakening when they try the same thing with the AI unfettered. Scripting and AI limitations are often there to keep the AI from flattening you, while giving the AI immense starting resources ensures you do not use the same

Basic stats and roles of the craft are fairly similar. In multiplayer, tech levels needed make a large difference, and in general, the abilities make a fairly large difference too. As an example, IF I use Vasari light frigates, I will ALWAYS get their repair ability, since it can turn the tide of a battle. Vasari light frigates are ships to be preserved early game. Advent light frigates are things you throw away more easily. Their power is nice, but

Actually, I have found that the Advent cannon is extremely useful if you know how to use it right. It is not an automatic game breaker, more of an economic warfare tool mixed with an early colonization aid. the tricks you can pull with this, ranging from devastating the tax/mineral collection of the enemy homeworld (and by extension, every single planet with more than 35% loyalty because of it) to rendering captured planets immediately colonizable, assisting with moving your

If an EA card is a card specific for Electronic Arts games, probably not, as this game is (thankfully given EA's current stance as far as DRM) not related in any way to Electronic Arts. I have not, however, heard of this EA card myself, so this is only speculation.

I have found the latest beta patch to be quite solid (other than losing my space ponies achievement, but I might just edit that back). You CAN edit back your achievements, though giving yourself achievements you didn't ACTUALLY achieve is exceedingly lame. Keymappings is a matter of backing up the files. If you do those two things, game on! The OTHER bad news, however, is that most stat sheets (which are VERY useful for determining counters and such) are for 1.05.&nb

Well if the ENGINE were put in for black market designs for enemy capital ships and a small number of 'unaligned' capital ships, at appropriately high cost, there would be no need for royalties, and you can be assured the modding community would handle any additional suspiciously familiar ships from there. 1)TEC have the strongest economy. If you look at Advent, they get trade ports with NO upgrades and a single system (last I checked) one per system version of refineries which take most of the tech tree to be really worth the build time. They are reasonably structure efficient, but are painfully weak compared to the rest. Vasari get trade port upgrades, but not refinery upgrades. TEC get cargo upgrades that boost both. 2)Kodiaks are in my experience, the ONLY sh

There are 2 halves of the planet. Each can, I believe, have only one discovery (I may be wrong on this), but... if a discovery happens to be on the second 50% of the planet, you won't find it hitting explore once. Artifacts may show on the first time always, not sure about that. Point is, first research is what's behind door #1, second research is door #2. If it's behind door #2 you won't find it first time, and if it's behind door #1, the second research is dead wei

A few things to mention. These things assume that a)we haven't found a way to 'cheat' inertia (too much), and b)we have thrusters that don't suck in deep space. In short, it roughly assumes Babylon 5 level tech. 1)without resistance (and it is resistance, not gravity that presents the largest speed challenge), a big ship can go very, VERY fast, but volume is based on the CUBE of the radius(or diameter), where thruster surface area is based on the SQUARE of it. This puts ad

I, like a GREAT many other people spent a lot of time looking forward to MOO3. When it came out, I looked at the box, looked at the details, and saw something that felt like it had missed the mark... however... it was discounted, and I could not rightfully NOT try MOO3 after the first two were so incredibly good. One large fleet and a couple of TEC colonizers with 'armstice' (shuts down the fight long enough for the big fleet to arrive would work also [e digicons]:cylon:[/e] If you have powers to keep your opponent from leaving before you carve a piece out of his hide or powers to reinforce quickly (read, RA), one big fleet can do quite well. If you have one large fleet (or mostly one large fleet), you NEED durable defenses (example, planetary shield, 2-3 repair facilities, 6 fighters w

Advent:Progenitor(if i'm going for warm, fuzzy infrastructure and later game crew rez)or Radiance(If I just want to kill sh*t without significant frigate backup because i'm spamming to pick one) As a side note, the ultimate can kill an ungodly number of non cap ships swarming in to kill it, and the beam is QUITE wide. TEC:Marza, Kol if I feel like a change from Kol. I SHOULD like the Akkan. Armstice is a very sick power ... but it just doesn't seem to work for me. &n
