Use this to buy all the thinking time you ever need when eg. deciding what to research next.
...motherfuck that really is confusing, I thought it didn't have a pause feature, I tried space bar, I tried esc, I couldn't find it in the key bindings, eventually I just gave up and would open the options screen, which is a real pain cause you can't see anyth
How many times have you been scared/startled in a game? Probably one or two times? Maybe you haven't been really scared in a game at all. For movies that number is probably higher.
I'd have to disagree, a movie hasn't really scared me since I was 7, I watched alot of them with my dad, they get predictable, but the first time I played a Resident Evil game I had to pause after ten minutes to go
Age doesn't define the individual, it's rediculous to think that not only does his age determine his level of maturity, but to assume that the people who define the standards have the same moral goals as his parents. Personally, I don't know what the fuck these ratings are supposed to tell parents anyway. TEEN Titles rated T (Teen) have content that may be suitable for ages 13 and older. Titles in this category may contain

If your new, I'd try larger maps, they give you more time to build up your empire before you have to face an actual enemy, Aereolian Sector with all but one AI disabled should be perfect, and because it's such a large map, definately have all the game speeds at max. I think it's a great way to get a feel for tactics and what research subjects and investments are most bennificial. Keep in mind though that the tactics which work best in a large map won't help much in the small ones,

Not only does gaming history show that unprotected games simply lead to more piracy, recent history also demonstrates clearly that simply removing DRM is not the answer to piracy. As we saw in the Scale of Piracy section, many popular games which have no intrusive DRM, such as Assa

And of course there is no easy way to turn that of, because at last in Vista that is part of the general windows startup process nad/or login process. So if Windows itself does it, how can you tell application developers they should not do that? I am not citicizing you with that question, instead it was a rethoric o
Thanks Zoomba, I run AVG, I'm fine with turning that off for the download, but I run Spybot's Teatimer as a contingency, I believe that all it does is monitor the registry for attempted alterations, have you seen any errors specifically related to TeaTimer?
I tried it again, and bravo, there weren't any active games, and I'm on dial-up through my cell phone right now, so I won't bother to host one, but it works :-) ...have I ever told you how beautiful you are Craig, that firm chisled jaw, and those penetrating amber... lines.
I had the same error when downloading 1.1, "File size smaller than expected" something like that anyway, I just ran to the laundramat, had it in about 15 minutes. The owner was ticked when he found me in the building at 1:30 though [e digicons][/e]
I just meant the game, my system runs on both, I've actually played with processor affinity quite a bit to squeese a tinsy bit more speed out of programs that refuse to use both. Thanks for the tip, though, I belive what your refering to allows one to limit resources available systemically, by default all the settings are deactivated allowing full access to all resources, so long as they are actually supported.
Okay, so, this isn't really beta feedback, just an idea, a rather shameful idea, but I'll present it anyway. I think it would be awesome if Entrenchment, or even just a patch really, granted an option to lock-out combat for a period in the begining of each game to allow for fortification. I want get the Actually HAL I Can Do That achievement, but everytime I try, even with the AI set to Fortifier, I get overrun by at least two capital ship fleets with a dozen or so basic frigates
I honestly haven't noticed a difference, I'm mostly just running x64 on principle, I bought a computer with a 64 bit processor damnit, I want to use it. One thing I've been wondering though, I don't know much about programming, but my understanding is that if a program is in 64 bit code, only the .exe and .dll files need to be specifically 64 bit, and that any of the supporting data files that it uses can still be 32 bit. I mention this because of an issue i've been having and a thread I saw
Oh, another thing to try is diabling the empire tree, just go to Menu/Options then User Interface, all the boxes in the center/right are the empire tree, this is the closest I've come to disabling it, but it significantly improved my performance, more than changing the graphics (on larger maps)
I've had similar problems with other software. One thing you can do is to alter the process afinity in task manager so all of your tasks but Sins run on only one core and sins alone is set to run on both. It helps a little, but it takes a hell of a long time.
When I first went to download a patch for Sins and found this Impulse client, I was pretty PO'd, I believe I shouted, "What the F*** is the s***? I actually pay for f****** software and you f****** want to put this f****** s*** on my f****** computer!" And so on, it lasted for quite a while... I'm sure that any inferences you make about my past game acquistions would be reasonably accurate, so I scoured the internet for such a copy of the Sins patch, found none, conceided to Impulse, launched
Same here, it was my first time trying, I went digging through my router's firewall settings, the config file for Sins, my adapter protocols [e digicons]X([/e] (insert many, many explitives) for a while after that I also got some weird errors when I tried to come to this site. I haven't tried ICO since, might be fixed now.
I don’t know if this should be in this thread or not, I never really got the hang of forums, if there is a more appropriate thread, I’m sorry, please post the perma-link. I just thought it would be fun to discuss general strategy with everyone.
