Your point is invalid Juletron, because fighters arent the only thing that counter assault cruisers. Pretty much ANYTHING except certain structures counter them because they cannot attack anything except structures (but even some structures can counter them). But if you want a more specific answer, HC do bonus damage to them, LRF can still kill them, even bombers do a fair amount of damage to them. Fighters just happen to be easy to access for defenses AND get the best bonus. I see what you;r

sounds good to me, so long as they arent running around with ships doing 100+ damage, 4k+hp and 40+ armor.

Lol Yarlen. Well make sure the task force lets them know that their continued armament past the strength of our mightiest ships will not be tolerated, and must be limited. If they wish to continue to arm their ships past a reasonable strength, the factions will respond by banishing their kind from our systems! Perhaps offering them more ships in exchange for a cap to the arming of those ships would be a fair and diplomatic trade.

Darvins got it right, but you dont have to inch your scouts, they can outrun the mines and you can pick them off while theyre chasing your scout. Probably will lose a few scouts doing this, but hey they're cheap and easy to replace.

No switching from bombers to assault cruisers in the face of fighters does have a purpose. 1) Bombers are somewhat slow at destroying starbases, or you need a TON of them to get the job done with any kind of speed. If you're facing an amount of fighters (and/or flak, and/or anti-sc abilities) that prevents you from destroying a Starbase, increasing the amount of bombers wont get you as far as switching your bombers to fighters and getting assault cruisers, which can get the job

Ech, some say super pirates are cool some say they arent. Ima go with they arent. They need a cap to their strength. 4khp pirate ships with 40+ armor and 100+ damage is just ludicrous. 5 ships like this is equal to 1 FULLY UPGRADED Starbase with an additional 20+ armor - shield mitigation (thank god). How many of these kinds of ships come in those late game raids? 20? 30? More? So to give you an idea of what thats like: the equivalent of 5-6 fully upgraded Orkuli just suddenly appearing

Explain your reasoning CoBBQ. Many economic upgrades are very cost effective, Darvins is just addressing the ones that arent, in essence making it useful, because if it isnt useful in some way, why get it? Theres a bunch of techs on the tech tree that just arent useful or are too expensive for what they give you. I don;t understand why improving them would make the game boring. minds pretty much got it. That and it just really lame when someone starts massing scouts, when you havent even decided whether or not to build lrfs. It just leaves your only option to build lfs. Boring.
Actually pocket players, especially Vasari, will put up starbases for teammates on their flanks and also try to starbase enemy planets. A pocket player might also move across the middle of the map eventually and open up a new front or be forced into combat if one his flanks dies
All very true, but wouldnt it be nice to be able put those civics labs to more use in helping your friends? And some of those envoy ships abilities would be pretty saweet for the guys on t

The current rate and amount at which pirates upgrade their ships is ridiculous. I like the idea of their ships getting stronger as the game progresses to keep up with the other races. But the races have a cap to how much damage they can do, where as currently pirates do not. Single Pirate ships more powerful than lvl 10 capitals is just dumb. They need to have their upgrades capped at a much, much, much lower level. I really think its just a bug, I dont think IC would conscious

DEAR LORD LOOK AT THE ARMOR IN THAT SCREENSHOT! That lvl10 cap has 9 armor, all the pirate ships have 40+ armor. That means your strongest weapons are doing as much damage as hurling a pebble at a tank. There is no race unit in the game that can even come close to that kind of armor. Ima call bug on that one. I can understand having increased HP and all, but DAMN thats a ridiculous amount of armor. I mean, fully upped starbases can get up to about half the armor of just 1 of those ships.
but scout spam ONLY worked against LRF spam to begin with
That doesnt make it any less obnoxious. An annoying scout spammer will spam scouts at you until you bring out lfs, then he'll set them aside, pump out his own lfs or lrfs, and just bring them back in again when you try and build lrfs again. I mean Im not saying its Op or anything, just saying its annoying to fight a giant group of scouts for the first 45 minutes of a game is all.

I really don't think that team games in Mp are going to change that much. I think diplomacy will just give the pocket slot more to contribute. You won't have to build envoy cruisers, but the pocket spot will be given the opportunity to help out his team with envoy cruisers abilities, and pacts. Since he generally charges up the civics tree to get his economy rolling, he'll be able to research the diplomacy techs, and have access to all the bonuses there in. I don't think it will forc
