THANKYOU A MILLION TIMES FOR MAKING IT TURN BASED! There have been SO many games that I've been very excited about, but then *whoops* the combat is real time, or some HORRIBLE melding of realtime and turn-based (like RTwP). Finally, someone with the COJONES to make a turn based game! YAYYYYYY!

I know this has been addressed elsewhere in the forum but there seems to be a bunch of weird chatter about it either way. Firstly, I want to say that if this game, like SO MANY OTHER GAMES THESE DAYS, fails to have turn-based (and I mean REALLY turn based, none of that real-time-with-pause CRAP), I will be so, so heartbroken. This is just about the ONLY game I am excited for. So here's my question: Can I play Elemental with turn based

Hey all. This community and I clearly share some interests given that we're both so psyched about Elemental. Anyway just wanted to let you know, if any of you have iPhones or iPod Touch devices, I've been working on this game called "100 Rogues" for just over a year now and it'll be coming out next month. Here's the official site! http://www.100rogues.com Let me know what

Guys, please, please don't call the currency something stupid. If you think it makes your game "more creative" to call it Deubeldorks or Froinks, you're just wrong. CALL IT GOLD, or coins, or friggin'... GOLD! Call it something people normally refer to as a resource. WHY make us memorize 200 different words for the s

Enter text here. "The player tells where they want their units and uses the space bar to pause the action to give new directions. That way, we can get much more interesting battles." You mean, LESS interesting? How is it MORE interesting to have your units all on auto-attack? It "LOOKES COOLAR!" sure, but anyone who knows the first thing about games shoul

Is the combat in Elemental going to be turn based? Or some horrid comprimised system, a la Bioware games? If the default is some horrid comprimised mongrel of turn based and real time, can I at least *PLEASE GOD* set it to straight up turn-based? I am SO psyched for elemental, more than any other game, but if it does not have an option for pure turn based combat I seriously think it could kill the game for me. Thanks,<

I actually hope there is never an "ultimate unit". That is known as "dominant strategy" or "imbalance" or "game-ruiner". If the system is balanced there should be thousands of viable solutions, each of which having strengths and weaknesses

So upon running the game I was greeted with a blue screen of death, and then the computer quickly restarted. I had already run the game several times today and it was generally working fine - however in my most recent run I had alt-tabbed (more specifically, CTRL+ESC'ed) to minimize the game. Then when I returned to the game, it was just a black screen, frozen, so I had to terminate it via the task manager. After that, running it gave me a B

Some of the pieces are better than others - and to be clear actually this soundtrack isn't BAD. It's more that it's just too generic, for a very otherwise not-generic game. The music doesn't reflect what a unique thing this game is.

I had a military unit walking around, and he found a little bag of treasure. I clicked to move him onto it, but he didnt have the move points. The next turn came, and I got a status report window saying that I had researched X and Y. Then, with that window still up, the "found an item" window also popped up (from my guy moving with the queued action). This alone would be a problem, I think, but also, the layers are messed up. Text from the "found

Generally I've felt that StarDock has been better at the mechanical side of game development than the artistic side. I've felt that their game designs have all been great, really fun, smart, and ballsy. However, artistically, I've felt that their games usually lacked a strong cohesive style. Elemental marks a break in that for me. I think there was a conscious decision on their part to make elemental have a very strong iconic style. The visuals a

The Save Game screen doesn't clear the text behind it when it comes up, leaving a mess of text and buggy-lookingness. The BUILD mode, where you are selecting what buildings to put down, automatically scrolls to the up-right diagonally. It's somewhat like when you start up an old N64 game with the controller pressed in one direction, and so it isnt calibrated right. I wish I could give more information on how to reproduce this, but it seems to do it 100% of

My opinion on "piracy" is that we need a new word for it. File-sharing is a better, more neutral word. I understand that companies need to make money, but we also have to understand the realities of the world we now live in. I myself am a game developer and I plan on actually distributing the game ourselves on torrent websites. It is more exposure. More people playing your game = a good thing. What companies have to do, instead of hav

um okay let's see: why does a miner-type need a pauldron? Why does he need to protect that one shoulder? Why is the fist directly perpendicular to the camera, and yet the pickaxe is going down - that makes no sense. Why is he holding his arm out like that, that's a horribly uncomfortable position. Also on a style note - why does he have the haircut of the character "buzz" from Home Alone? Basically what I'm saying is, this just technicall
