Arent we forgetting shield mitagation? I would focus on the smaller ships.To be succesful in that regard you should check out the damage charts , see which ships are most effective against specific ships.

Yes people notice , yes the AI can be stupid and yes it should be changed but i highly doubt that it will be changed this year [e digicons]:([/e] .But then again you should push the front , attack your enemy instead of hiding and if you are not attacking because you are researching or something then why do you have a problem with the AI giving you the chance to do that.

It was not a entrenchment change , it was a change in a vannila update. 1.14 , 15 dont remember...i think.

Now, what they should do is allow anyone with vanilla or not to play anyone. However... the Entrenchment features should be disabled for vanilla VS Entenchment games. In other words:entrenchment players can still play vanilla sinnners but for both players it would be like vannila sins
