I wanted to let you all know that I'm in the preproduction stages of creating my own faction to add to Sins. The faction's called the Inter-Stellar Sol Federation or ISSF. The ISSF is based on using spacecraft and structures of a more space age / cold war era design. I've already planned out the ISSF's ships and their abilities and weapons: Frigates: Odyssey – D
TEC look like the kind of group that build things modularly. You know: "The port engine is starting to degrade, better pull it out and slot in a new one", kind of thing. I can see them just taking out whole hull sections and replacing them. (fits their big industrial style too)
Where is it implied that TEC design their ships to be modular? And for a great big capital ship, I doubt they have spare 100-megatonne engines and the like lined up or floating around just to swi
I guess it's a bad idea then. But I still stand by that ships do wear out. However, a brand new, greenhorn ship is not going to have any problems. But when you put a ship through several damaging battles; patches and repairs won't make that ship brand new again. If a bulkhead splits and is repaired, it's still a bulkhead with a hole in it, it's just being held together. Now it is understandable that the Vasari have nanites to completely repair their ships - that'd ruin the ide
Not necessarily, caps are bigger than cities - that's a lot of ship to keep together. Even modern maritime ships of our world fall into disrepair. And I'm sure some good players can keep their caps long enough to get to at least level 7 - plenty enough experience to wear down, I think.
Hey, I just got this idea: highly experienced capital ships should age over time, weakenning from battle-wear. Yeah, I just got the idea when watching the new episode of Battlestar Galactica - how its starting to tear apart. This should be a mod or even put in the Entrenchment expansion! I think how it goes about is that they weaken by using their abilities (or maybe some of them like Finest Hour and others that directly involve the ship).
Ahh, that's too bad - it didn't even show up on my palm when i tried downloading it.
Hey, I've been using the Galaxy Forge for a little while now, and I'm wondering what the GalaxyForge - Palm Database File is for? Does it install a copy of the forge on my palm? That would be awesome if it does.
I've noticed that pirates always attack the planets closest or second closest to them. What I usually do is post a small fleet of ships to defend those planets - it's of course also an easy way to earn experience for your caps.
Can I import my models that I've already made in Maya, over to XSI, or do I have to build them all over again?
