Ok my guess goes like this; If you tell them to attack by right clicking, yes they will pew pew until there target is dead. If they attack auto closest target, they will heal you as you have not told them to just keep attacking one person.

Yeah you see when you hover over the skills, a tooltip pops up saying what each one does. Hover over 4. and see what it says.
