as for the one who said that the vasari have a better starting cap...that's false. the progenetor is the best starting cap. discount on planet colonization, healing abilities with a certain area to keep ships alive, and malice to spread more damage, also don't forget ressurection, which gives instant levels to a cap ship of another one dies.
Have to disagree. Well after watching the replay, I realize that I didn't do as badly as I thought I had. I did a decent amount of damage. It appears that red outproduced due to a little bit of feeding and because he ignored any other upgrades. I've generally been told that TEC SHOULD buy the armor upgrade, so I think I made the right move. My big problem is learning how to be more aware of allies around the map while I manage my own. ISON really was hurting really badly, especially since he had no ter
MaverickAlphaBravo, ISON, and Dragonfire - if you read the forums, sorry about the disconnect in this last game with [$]. I didn't purposefully quit on you, my ethernet cable has gone to shit and I got disconnected. It previously hasn't been a problem (only caused trouble in 2 out of 20 or so games) but today it's been really acting up. I messaged [$] to resetup, but he said it was almost over anyway. Hopefully he passed the message on to you guys that I wans't quitting out. If anyone
I should probably qualify a few things first: I'm not a "skilled" player, only intermediate (possibly higher end of intermediate, but I won't make any substantial claims as such) I've played about 20-30 games of vanilla online and only 4-6 of entrenchment. Obviously most of my experience is with vanilla. Now the basic answer to your question is: it depends on the game and situation. Vanilla is much different than entrenchment, as is team game versus 1v1. In a 1v, if yo
As Deceiver said, the best defense is a good offense. You can afford to lose a few worlds if you have wiped out one of the other players and can take all of his territory. In my experience, I haven't found it helpful to think of turrets, hangars, etc as defenses . Rather, I find it more helpful to think of them as augmentors . The only real defense is to have a fleet on the planet.you're trying to defend. Turrets, repair bays, etc help aid that endeavor if you

Well I just had my first out-of-sync game. It was a pretty funny actually. Replay: http://www.mediafire.com/download.php?x1qirqbnwm3 Adult language disclaimer.
I don't like FFA, so I almost always play with teams locked.

If he goes AFK, wouldn't that make it easy as hell to take him out? He doesn't have an AI taking over like quitting does, so his units are just going to be sitting there. If you have AI enemies to worry about, just focus on him. If you REALLY don't care abouit stats and simply want to keep him from getting a win screen, you could have all of your teammates rush in and mess up his base and then quit. I agree with what you're saying though, that's just douchebaggery. On
How exactly do you run the bailknight mod in multiplayer? I tried installing and enabling it, but a received a checksum error when I tried to play against someone else (ie the game recognized that I had a mod running that other players didn't).

I used to do this and stopped for a VERY SPECIFIC REASON: If you're retreating a fleet, and one of the ships get caught behind (*cough* capital *cough*), the ENTIRE FLEET JUMPS BACK INTO THE SLAUGHTER. The only thing you can do about it is try to click "leave fleet" on the hapless ship that gets caught in the gravwell and hope that you did it soon enough to prevent your whole fleet from throwing itself on
No, he was specifically talking about me pinging a planet. Twice I've done it and he's said that the enemies can see it. He said that he read it in the readme document that came with the game. I was extremely skeptical of this myself until during that same game, I saw pings on planets suddenly appear without getting the notification that an anlly had done so. I have not yet tested it in game as I've been more focused on simply playing. Does anyone know with absolute certainty
i, personally think that shield mitigation, while was designed to sort of punish focus fire... doesnt do it very well... and instead of bute-forcing an + in the midigation cap... a more logerithmic sort of mitigation would be much better. questions? comments? perhaps i should make my own thread about this idea?
You probably should make your own thread about it, but I agree with what you're saying. T
One thing that really puzzled me: You didn't buy the second tier of phase missile upgrades until about hour 3 (which in a normal game would essentially mean never). Even more puzzling, you researched the ability to create Overseers MUCH earlier than this, but only bought a handful (if even that) of the unit. To me, it would seem like the phase upgrade would be much more valuable as it affects the units used the most throughout the game (assailant, fighter, bomber, skirantra, kortul).<
Another player brought to my attention the fact that opponents can see your pings. I found this rather odd. I thought the whole point of a ping was to secretly tell your teammates what you're looking at without wasting time typing. Does anyone know if the ally pings can be seen as well? (Ie attack/defend here)
Thanks very much, I noticed some of that (particularly the way he sent the colony frigates in early). I didn't notice him rotating LRFs much, maybe I wasn't paying close enough attention to that particular aspect.
In the replay, I didn't notice him doing it too much either, but I think that is mostly because the Marza took on most of the militia by itself. Mainly, I saw it on the volcanic planet after he cleared the first desert.<
The Q&A was done in the chat lobby after the game, and I was not aware of a way to log the chat so I do not have a copy. I probably should have written it down, because my mind is blanking now on some of the things he said. But I'll do my best: Slow and Steady: One thing he difinitvely stressed is that the game is about many smaller victories adding up to a larger whole, rather than a few large decisive victories that win the
After watching the cykur replay, I was actually pretty surprised to see that he built no cobalts and simply sent his Marza in alone to handle the early militia clearing (even against a kodiak guarded world). Is this a plausible strategy with all of the caps? Or does it work mainly with stronger caps (high health and damage)? In particular, how well would a Progen, Akkan, Sova, and Halcyon respectively do on their own?

There's been a distinct lack of replays for Vanilla 1.16, let alone replays from excellent players. Last night, my friends and I had the fortune of playing a game with Cykur (I'm sure I don't need to explain who he is). Afterwards, he was gracious enough to do a 20 minute Q&A about how to play well. Humbly enough, he remarked that he doesn't do anything amazing, he just makes sure that he commits less mistakes. Without further ado: <a href="http://www.mediafire.com/?vg210j
Huh, didn't know that there were balance differences on basic units between entrenchment and vanilla. I just got entrenchment, so I've only played vanilla online. Honestly, I'm overally fairly happy with everything and I feel that Sins is the best/most well balanced multiplayer game I've ever played...except for MB. I don't want to rehash everything that has already been said, but I would like to pull in something from the "nerf the marza" thread:
