[quote who="clonmac" reply="911" id="2508405"]So I had this long post typed out, then I lost it all...Lovely!... Sometimes, to get the publics attention you need to scream. That is what Gore did. He has been at this a long time and he originally thought he could just make his case and people would catch on. That is not the case as it turns out. So when making a documentary, why wouldn't he advertise the fullest extent? If you want to get their attention, you'

You are an idealist who feels that all encompassing and complete laissez faire is good laissez faire. That is so far from how things work it isn't even funny. I am a capitalist. [quote who="clonmac" reply="878" id="2507487"] I've read that article it is extremely vague and also misinterpret Al Gore's words. I will respond to each item as they are reference in that article below going right down the line 1, 2 ,3, 4, etc. Also, just out of curiousity, have you seen An Inconvenient Truth? If so, then you can verify my statements as true below... 1) First off, Burton claims that Al Gore said that the melting of either West Antarctica or Gree
[quote who="clonmac" reply="868" id="2506921"] So I just read his article and while I agree with a lot of what he says, I feel he is very narrow-minded and naive. He feels that people like Gore are simply all for carbon capping and that's it. It isn't like that. Anyone who has listened to people like Gore know that they are looking for very broad solutions to the problem such as new technologies and the like . No one realistically thinks t
[quote who="clonmac" reply="858" id="2506265"] Sure, sure. We both agree that there are always people on both sides in it for the money. Al Gore? I don't know what to think about him. What I do know is that a lot of people don't realize that he has been at this global warming thing for a very long time long before there was any money to be made. He studied it back in college and before he was even in politics. Is he making a very nice living off of his speeches and all that?
[quote who="clonmac" reply="844" id="2505931"] Try not to get tunnel visioned into generalizations. To claim that all global warming proponents want to cap carbon emissions is just plain wrong. Actually very few want that and at the very least want a cap&trade system. But, there are a ton of solutions that have been proposed and many global warming advocates are against cap&trade even. The point is that solutions need to be looked at and debated, NOT debate over whether or not gl
[quote who="clonmac" reply="841" id="2505864"]Finally I will say this to people who are either on the fence/skeptical about global warming or are just looking and waiting for proof of its existance. Sometimes it takes putting things into a different perspective for someone to realize something. Essentially it boils down to the fact that skeptics are looking for absolute PROOF that the world is really on the brink of a climate crisis. They are looking for complete 100% concrete evid
[quote who="Mumblefratz" reply="811" id="2505480"] 4At the very minimum it is the educated guess of the consensus of credible credentialed climate scientists which in my mind carries quite a bit more weight than mere assumption. Also your doubt of the temperature record is extemely paranoid. Yes we did not have weather satellites 40 years ago but we have had thermometers and have basically known how to use them for at least 130 years if not 150 years. I submit that at le
[quote who="Mumblefratz" reply="803" id="2505440"] Since we're expecting 10-20 years of cooling, how do you expect me to eat crow 5-10 years from now when it keeps getting warmer?Because I don't expect that we will get 10-20 years of actual cooling. At most I expect 10-20 years of simply *slower* warming than would otherwise occur. As I've said if we actually do get ten years of cooling then I would have to rethink *my* position. However I mean "real" cooling ba
I do not know much about ulcers and stuff, but if there is some kind of lab-verified proof its caused by bacteria, i have no problem believing it. However there is no such evidence regarding AGW, cause this supposed evidence is based on: unreliable, incomplete and adjusted (read manipulated) temperature readings imperfect computer models which certainly do not include every single aspect which has effect on climate change (cause today there is very little or no understan

I agree with the statement, the genre kinda hit the wall. Multiplayerwise i think they managed to lead the genre to its perfection almost ten years ago with the Quake 3, original Unreal Tournament and until today my personal favorite Medal of Honor Allied Assault. From there it was all about more or less succesful attempt to recreate the quality of those games - but for me personally, aside Call of Duty none succeeded. Even with better graphics i do not find newer games as fun as this trio. B

But Climate Change makes predictions, those predictions have been tested, and those tests have proven pretty darn accurate of 30+ years. It's detractors h
