Such a long time since I played it, should really finish a Malkavian playthrough someday. The only idea I have is to see if any of the player created patches might help.
I really wish we had the choice to buy from elsewhere. I don't like steam and always buy from the developers site or places such as GOG when possible. Just my one and a half penny's worth.
You do, you can buy it directly from Stardock here .
Quoting Rhonin_the_wizard, reply 1 In the Steam forums you mentioned this "Yea, in fact custom races will be more important this time than in GalCiv II because down the line, when people are playing on the insane size galaxies, playing against your own custom races is the only way you'll have enough opponents to fill up that galaxy." How many players are we talking about on insane size galaxies? <br

Why should I pay for ir as if it was a full game??? I'm sorry you guys will never have your point, the man is right, if you want people to help you at na alfa stage just throw some invites and charge a measly fee since shit, its me who is helping you.

There is too much speculation in your post and nothing to back it up. Valve states that Steamworks is free. "It’s free: There’s no charge for bandwidth, updating, or activation of copies at retail or from third-party digital distributors."
Hopefully they don't release it too soon like they did with Knights of the Old Republic II and New Vegas.
Don't know about New Vegas, but KOTOR2 wasn't their fault, it was LucasArts that made the call for it to be released at the time. In fact most of the time developers don't have a say when a game is released, publishers do.

Promoting evil in such as way is stupid, why would anybody want to take penalties so they can get good benefits that are no where near as good as neutral or evil choices. whatever system is in its place, people who play strategy games will ALWAYS choose the most logical choice over a moral choice, look at every other tittle

Regarding the Jagged Knife, it is a mega event, basically it is a faction that rebelled against a good civilization. It didn't conquer your planet, it joined that faction. The other two factions are I-League for neutral civilizations and Fundamentalists for evil civilizations.

I liked to play as the Terran Alliance, should give the other civilizations a try sometime. I actually played how they were described in the lore, with a very small military and using influence to get planets to join me. I traded with the other civilizations to get their unique technology and made economic and research treaties with them and tried to make most of them to enter in an alliance with me. Went with neutrality for alignment because I wanted that research building.
1) what are the main improvements from GC2?
This post from Frogboy sums it up nicely:
Yea, there are a number of areas that if you start with GalCiv II as the base, you can take it up to the next level. For examples: The UI in GalCiv II is pretty dated, GalCiv III has a really good tool tip system that gives you a lot of helpful information. We were able to expand t

This is what has been stated on map sizes:
Currently a hex sector, has a 12 hex radius, so there are 397 hexes per sector, which is a bit larger than a 16x16 GC2 sector. The smallest galaxy is currently 7 sectors. The largest we will leave as a surprise, for later. These values are all set out in data, that modders will have access to later, which should be fun.[/quote

*Sigh* This discussion again. From the Fighters/Drones, Command modules and carriers thread, reply 38:
Those who like the idea of designing carriers and seeing carriers in action in fleet battles I think will be happy. Those who imagine fleet battles that play like MOO2 (i.e. where you're micro managing individual units) will be less happy.[/
