Civ5 is not a Steam exclusive - other retailers are offering it (boxed) as well. It requiring steam is nothing new - stockdock requires Impulse in order to receive updates...

Good for her, that's exactly what she should be doing. When I was younger I use to work at Target, and believe me, nobody wants to be the one asking someone clearly over the age limit to see ID. I don't remember what the policy was, but one of the things that comes along with being an adult is responsiblity, and a responsible adult has their ID! So just show it to them, because more than likely their manager is watching.

This is where craigslist comes into the picture. I've sold the majority of games I was no longer interested in to some people on there, usually for around what gamestop charges. Just be sure to meet some place public, rather than at your house. Another alternative is goozex, but I haven't used them in ages. It was a good experience though.
