I'd hate to break it to you, but the pirates themselves look like that... look at their portrait. Why wear eccentric headgear? They even have protrusions in their mouth like the fangs in their logo. also, the logo has looked like that since vanilla. I'm guessing that the hint has something to do with new content in Rebellion.

It was indeed but after checking EVERY .entity file EVERY .str entry and EVERY .window and .brush entry nothing came up EDIT and this was no search parser I actually went through every one by hand

Yeah though I do wish that we didn't have to resort to particle effects to do this... They don't work as intended most of the time... For example, when your particle count is overloaded, your ships will be missing segments... etc. Anyhow this thread isn't here for me to complain... sorry I was just checking to see if I could be helpful :D best of luck to ya
