I tried negotiating peace when they have only planet left. Often I get the message that the ambassador will not see me because of the recent hostilities. If an AI is about to be wiped out, I think they SHOULD agree to speak to me I mean when their defending ships are gone from their last remaining planet and I have a troop transport that is about to invade what can be more important ? It's like I have to wait several turns doing nothing and possibly losing

It has happened to me a few times (mostly when I'm playing an Evil race) that a race will attack me because they think it is lucrative to do so. In this case it was the Thalans. They declared war on me, I invaded their single planet wiping them out. A bit later the Drath and Altarian alliance simultaneously declared war on me because they felt my civilization wasn't worthy or surviving. I managed to defeat both races but this left my race in debt. Midw

Hello, The game tells us that the further away a planet is, the more valuable the trade route is. I have some questions though. Does the speed of a trade vessel affect the trade route's worth ? With maximum tech, with a speed of 97 in a Dread Lords campaign, the trade between my planet in the corner and the Yor in the center of the screen is around 75 with 2 economic starbases in between. Yet my freighter at a speed of 97 can make the trip between the Y

I like to purchase spore ships from the Korath and hoard those ship to wipe them out with their own weapons.

I played one game as the Terrans where my first move was to leave the UP. I was unable to have any trade routes with any civilisations. They wouldn't send trade ships to me either but for some reason It was much easier to keep cordial relations with other races. My good relations may have something to do with the economic starbases I built to help out my planets. I don't know if it also affects positively the other races in the range of the ec

I trade or purchase the scout ships of other races in exchange of bc's and/or tech. Then when I have 1 or 2 levels of miniaturization researched, I can design a tiny hull with a constructor module (but with no engine). I put the scout in position where I want to build the starbase, upgrade the scout to a constructor with no engine and use it to build or upgrade my starbases. I've only used military starbases as a support module for an invasion when a

I have a rally point next to my base world. I just launched a spore ship (not a custom made, one designed by the game) and when I tried to send it to my rally point, I was told it was out of range. It is right next to the ship. Also, after playing Korath and winning a game with influence (without having a single war) with the only other races being Yor and the minor races, I went back to the Auto saved game and declared war on the Yor to

I went through the trouble of building one once and was disappointed to see that unlike the "Star Wars" death star it couldn't defend itself. You'd think they would use that star blasting laser on a fleet. When I build it originally, I tried the following: On a huge hull I put 2 engines and a bunch of constructor module. (The game allowed it). That ship was very expensive to build. My idea was to build the terror star in one shot. M

I noticed that if I build a "Counter Espionage Center" on a planet where spies are already present it will not negate them. It prevents further spies from being placed. (Shouldn't they look for spies to negate once they are built ? ). I rushed researched 2 tech and bought that project hoping to negate 3 spies on one of my world but it didn't work. :-( I had to wait to get spies and negate those one by one. </p

In the month I first received my game, there was this one game where I ended with the Precursor Ranger (the powerful one). I had purchased it from another race to make sure it wasn't used against me as someone in the forum suggested. I used it as the spearhead of my invasions, taking out defenders on a planet before sending troop modules. I hadn't figured out how to used fleets yet. In that game the mega pirate event happened and I found that my precur

I purchased several ships from multiple races. In my last game, i played as the Drath and quickly built up my military by asking for a few ships every time I traded some tech from other races. I also bought all the scouts and space miners that I could, converting them to constructors that I used to build up my starbases. It was much cheaper than building a constructor from scratch. In this game I didn't build many ships, I mainly did ship u

Hello, I noticed that on occasion, when I upgrade a ship (like a fighter) that I purchased from another race into a design that I made, the ship will keep its original name. For example, I designed a troop transport using a medium hull and I upgraded a Iconian fighter I purchased. The ship's name is still the same and I have to check the ship's stats to see which one of them is my troop transport. Is there any way to m

I won my last game as Drengin. When I saw that the hostilities were about to start, I would bribe some of the most hostile races to attack the others. This delayed the war declarations on myself. I used the minor races as banks, selling them technologies. My preferences for what I sold them was: 1- Things that would increase their trade and economy (so they have money to buy tech) 2- Thing

To Moosetek13: Which drivers are old and how do I update them ? I've got the auto-update setup in Windows so i would expect things to be up to date on my computer. Also, this game is from 2003 so even if my drivers are old now, I would expect them to have been new when Galactic Civ II originally came out. I'm playing the game on my laptop and it is less than a year old. When in Colony manager: I'm instruct

I recently tried 15 times to have a diplomatic dialogue with the Terran Alliance (I'm playing Arcean right now). Each time whether I'm accessing the menu via the foreign stats or by slicking on a planet, the diplomatic screen bugs out on me. Could we have a redraw screen function ? Honestly, I'd take a ASCII diplomatic screen that I can read over a graphical one that is unuseable.

I have the latest update 2.03. Here are some of the bugs that I've noticed. -Diplomatic relations: The screen displays sometimes goes buggy so that when you scroll down available technologies, what was previously printed before the scroll down isn't erased and you get a blurred mix of the previous line and current line. This sometimes happens when I move the mouse cursor to the upper left around where the influence/bc is displayed. The screen also gets buggy
