the updates from within mint (installed months ago) is safe, right? XD

i remember seeing a spy vs spy game (apple?) many many years ago. never played it though... i think.
i should have waited to play a demo or something... wow anyone want a free game its taking up wasted space in my steam library.
refund it on steam? and since when can you give (used) steam games away??
yes, i know. which is why i said installation needs fiddling... as you supposedly need to mod the iso to install, whether from usb stick or from dvd. (is there a plain text editor for this forum? don't need all the fancy stuff that copy/paste extra bits like link/font sizes and what not) that said, we all know that the majority of (consumer) windows users get it with new machines, and only a tiny minority go around buying the os, nevermind using older versio
http://www.anandtech.com/show/9964/microsoft-to-only-support-new-processors-on-windows-10 (note.. the title of the article was edited to: Microsoft Will Not Support Upcoming Processors Except On Windows 10) not sure if it's news or completely expected. for example... installing win7 on skylake machines needs fiddling (win7 doens't support usb3, skylake doesn't natively support usb2)
probably stellaris (though never played ck2 properly really) or even xcom2 when it goes on steam sale, near x'mas maybe XD. never finished 1 it crashed far too often for me and really hated the way the aliens run a mile when uncovered
win def. heh. i had it scan once everyday as a backup scanner when i was using win7. it came bundled with vista and you can even get it for xp. it's just a very basic antimalware thing. i would bet it's a lot less intrusive than most security suites.
i flipped to "ublock origin" from adblockplus a few months back. no idea if it's blocking more stuff or not XD. it does have a lot more filters sources - blocking malware domains, etc. i use edge if i need to watch bbc clips. no idea if it's ublock or if it's kaspersky that's blocking the clips there.. doesn't work with chrome and firefox so it's not noscript (have ublock origin on both) XD edge has no extension whatsoever, which is
Quoting alaknebs, reply 39 unless you are talking about losing the win7 key eligibility for that machine? though surely if you roll back, logically you should be losing the win10 key. (regardless of whether it actually happens) in both cases, you have a win7 and a win10 ins
Quoting alaknebs, reply 35 why? if you clean install win10 directly with your existing win7 key... that's basically the same thing as upgrading (which uses the same key) + rolling back and then clean install win10, isn't it? Yes, but yo
Quoting alaknebs, reply 26 why can't you just do a clean install for the dual boot directly? Well, you can, if you have a spare Windows 7 or 8 key lying around. Or if you have bought Windows10. Otherwise, you must first upgrade said PC,(this regi
Quoting Sed, reply 16 I'm flat out afraid to upgrade from WIN 7 .... But I have some old art programs that I cannot RE-upload and I DON'T want to lose them. All backed up tho if Windows does it without my OK....... I have WIN 10 on my laptop and there is
play df in a virtual machine? XD
ff14 for ~7 months, gw2 (f2p... with a trial account from a few years back, was going to buy the expansion off amazon but it went back to full price XD) for a few weeks, assaassin's creed:syndicate for a couple of weeks (got it for "free" off the gfx card... didn't realise i was going to get it XD) gta5 / this war of mine / ambition of nobunaga: soi / sleeping dogs /wh4k:space marine for a few days/hours (from the x'mas sale) that's about i

it's all those subcontractors boss santa employs ... didn't you hear the boss santa is a chinese woman?
... i thought the article says it only applies to edge and ie11 (or at least the latest feature of it?) ? that said, there are a few places in win10 for the smart filter setting.... and i think they are not linked (as in... toggling it in 1 place won't have that setting apply in the others)
thought they are going linux?
wonder why... i did have problems (before installing anything) to get video to display anything at all until that fixed itself eventually somehow. (after a few reboots... only empty drives and win10 dvd connected) .. guess i'll fiddle with that when i have to wipe everything and clean install... hopefully not for years!
... oddly my boot ssd uses mbr not gpt. no idea why (maybe i selected the wrong thing during install XD). clean win10 install on it. (new machine with uefi) also read that it doesn't matter performance wise due to small size (256 gb)... so not going to be bothered about that.
i would have thought booting to linux via cd/dvd shouldn't be reading off the hdd/mounting them until after the os is loaded? (obviously... whether the scans will then find the rootkit, etc depends on the signature/heuristics of the scans)
surely things like those linux based cd/dvd scans can find it?
i pinned the file explorer to the taskbar and usually rightclick on the start menu button if i have anything to do with that button. (not many program that i use.. the usual ones i just use shortcuts on desktop. and the frequently used ones pinned to taskbar) well.. ok.. i do go through start menu to shutdown.. XD hate win 8/8.1 in the few times i had to use it on someone else's labtop (hate the touchpad thingy on laptops too). always having the metro screen popup when i d
i just realised something yesterday... emet 5.2 isn't fully compatible with win10 XD (look.. i didn't read the thing properly before installing it) noticed it when i was wondering why ie doesn't open (i was checking some ie settings... since things like steam likes using ie settings for some reason... i think.)... ie in win10 crashes apparently if eaf is enabled. maybe it's also why i can't uninstall asus ai suite (can't be bothered to boot into safe mo
have a look at http://www.tenforums.com/tutorials/2304-safe-mode-start-windows-10-a.html that place (and the related 7/8 sites) seems pretty good for looking up how to solve issues.
