I had to get mine up to lvl2, but only because the pirates had an extra fleet sitting around. Also: yes, it is a good way to lvl your titan.

Yeah, it says pretty clearly on the skill tooltip how long it lasts (10/13/17sec) and that the ship must be destroyed while the ability is active. I've messed up the timing a bit, and the auto-cast seems pretty stupid about it.

It is possible to win a military victory by destroying enemy ships only apparently. At least I've personally blown up a fleet and seen the side retire afterwards.

Disappearing Titan Bug in Sins Rebellion Sins Forums

Ankylon Titan (lvl7) still exists, still in system, but cannot be seen, cannot be moved, cannot attack. Abilities can be activated, but no effects are visible, Titan still shows as in system via sidebar and planet friendly ships index. Attempting to zoom camera to the titan shows only background, and zoom/pan does nothing. Zoom/pan do not show any systems, planets, anything except background.
