After playing some beta I finally managed to piece together what I do not like in Ideology system of Galciv3 You have to do a lot of planet hunting or waiting for events for Ideology points that are limited and depend on you aligment choices. Small maps may not have enough such events to progress you anywhere down the chosen tree. I compared this to the policies system made in Sid Meyer's Civilization 5 and thought through a way to improve GC3 by mixing both systems.

I'm still amazed how everyone fail to see that the AI is bugged beyond belief. Captain Obvious comes to your rescue pal -- thalan now always win in DA and ToA and most of the other races are miserable cause their AI's can't do shit nothing

Go tweak the techtree.xml For galactic warfare, space militarization, space weapons and 3 weapon theories increase the AIvalue to a higher (say 50 instead of 10). This makes ai consider those techs important and research them early.
Game developers don't owe us a damn thing
Actually they do. We paid them money :) Still as for me I never complain about small, non-critical bugs. But There are sometimes bugs that make the game unplayable. I remember myself having fun at times fixing small bugs and exploits :)
without internet patches, games had to be finished and mostly bug-free before release.
Yeah correct! :D It's like the game developers think "Bugs? Testing?
I feel there's a definite difference between bugged/stupid behavior (evil races not colonizing) and AI using differing playstyles
What playstyles do suggest to let the enemy take all the resources and planets from under your nose and then wait for the inevitable? Because it doesn't matter how soon that AI starts building up military -- with 5 planets vs 40 it hopelessly outclassed. The only feel about that races I get is the feel that they are damned to be losers for e

I finished testing the maklar mod. It did help a lot. With the tech trees returned to the DL style all the stock races began expanding a lot better and built a military a lot better. However they still behaive strange (they never build a trade routes or try to trade techs with me for example). After al I decided to go back to the Dark Avatar. If the testing of it's AI will satisfy me I will not be playing ToA untill a proper patch is released (And I guess it won't happen any time soon
In the original list, 5 is not a bug, but an actual feature ("tech inflation"). I actually like it a lot, as it helps deal with one of my problems with DA - games finished too fast even on a very large map.
I believe that tech speed should be adjusted to the size of the map you're playing. The bigger the map the slower research rate should be chosen. And I do not think this is a bug -- the problem just that AI's aren't doing anything right at all with the new tech trees
Does anyone know if 2.03 fixes these issues?
It doesn't. And I agree with topic starter on every point. Shame on Stardock! Also check out this mod a guy made to help sort things out and tell what you think. https://forums.galciv2.com/382002/page/2/#replies If there is any feedback to them then I would like to make it. They just robbed me of my money I think.

Hello all! Please advise on a serious bugs with my AI. There are two major problems I have again and again. a - Several races (Iconians, Korx, Arceans to name a few) are advancing very slowly all the time and often freeze in their status. They do the colony rush either very poorly or not doing it at all. Then they find themselves with 3-6 planets against empires with 30+ planets and easily become prey for them. Is there any known fix to this? b - Sometime (too
