Definitely give Cavalry a weakness to spears. In real life, infantry has several immense advantages over cavalry, mostly logistical. The ability to field many more troops in the same space, only having to feed and fit 150 pound humans instead of 1000+ pound beasts, etc. The cost for production and maintenance just needs to be dramatically higher for cavalry.

If so, then how about implementing a couple of my stupid suggestions. 1. UI : Show the pathway movement (and how many turns to get there) before I click to move. 2. UI : Highlight the currently selected unit or city in the empire tree down the left side of the screen because it's too

Life Magic Spellbook: -Courage: A decent boost for early game, almost meaningless in mid/end game. -Regeneration: This one's pretty good. Nothing more annoying than waiting around for regenerating sovs/champs. -Aura of Vitality: Same as courage. Decent early on, not much impact mid/late. -Sovereign's Call: Compared to Pit of Madness? Not even remotely close. Growth is almost never an issue in this game. -Battle Cry: This can be

Adding Wildlands is something we can do very easily. I'll ask Paul what he thinks about switching those areas to Wildlands areas instead.
It would be nice if we simply had a "canon" Anthys map. The map is enormous, there's no reason why it can't include fixed start locations for all the facti
I have actually. In an older 4X game, another great favorite of mine.. Star Trek: Birth of the Federation. Now, for full disclosure, had I been playing as the Romulans, this wouldn't have even been a remote issue.. But, I was playing as the Federation at the time. I had an armada of 150 ships, completely dominating the other races, enforcing peace and all that. Then during a late phase in the game, it happened... They came. &n

That's more of a rubberband style which has proven to be nice on paper but a failure in execution. It's arbitrary and not "permanent" since it's a bunch of band-aids on a gushing wound. I know that AI takes a lot of processing power, but can large AI factions, or "end game" AI factions delegate control? As in, split them up so each AI city or delegation can react to its particular circumstances? Seems like the AI has a one-size-fits-all brain that does not get

Hello. I'd like to bring up a balance issue that I've experienced with every 4x game in existence, other than Civ4 BTS. It is actually extremely apparent here in Fallen Enchantress, perhaps moreso than any other 4x game. I love Stardock to death, but GalCiv2 is another big culprit. If you the player are looking for a challenge, even a moderate one, you'll pick the difficulty where the AI is at its "smartest" and at the very least, the AI gets no economic penalties, or
So, some more feedback on the Anthys map. Finding Abeix (sp?) near a chasm was cool- defeating him and getting a bloody "Wooden Shield" was less so. Whenever I fought the boss type creatures on a randomly generated map, I rec'd more artifact-y style loot. Maybe it spoiled me, but getting an item I've had access to since virtually the start of the game was a let-down.
Agree, defeating these wildlands bosses should alwa

I think there should be unit size upgrades. -That way, there is no incentive to wait to build armies due to the late-game research techs that increase group size. -It should reduce xp and levels accordingly, to reflect new troops. -It should cost a lot, in gildar, and materials alike.

Actually I have found that Gilden is by far the most effective AI faction. They always build wonders, and often end up with big, heavily-armored late game armies of barons that will whoop your butt unless you are faster/better at magic. My first game ever: Gilden ended up on a spree of continuing to research refined defense and attack, apparently. I was forced to specialize in lots of magic use in order to kill those super barons and knights. <

I bought the map pack right away. -The large Anthys map is actually quite bare, and not affected by what resources/magic/quest settings to choose. All it does is lengthen the game by increasing travel time between cities. -It would be nice if Anthys had all of the wildlands available. Why not? There's enough room, and currently the map is very empty. -It would be nice to have a fixed start location option for the "canon" factions, based on that lore
I just spent 20 hours polishing this nice toy that let me win - let me use it a bit more.
This sums it up quite nicely. It is fun to build up your perfect soverign/champions/army/cities/whatever. But inevitably, you will become unstoppable, usually well before the "end game". I don't care for short, quick games, I want to live in the world I've been refining and controlling, rather than just sit lo
Tuidjy, what you're talking about is manually making the game harder by not using some of the mechanics. That's fun? To you maybe, but not to me. I could make up a game in FE where I was only allowed to arm my units and champions with clubs and cast no spells, and it would be very hard. I'd probably get crushed. You might love it though, I'll freely admit you're a better player than I am. I can w

I'm looking at Curgen's Volcano (I think it needs a higher mana cost and a casting time) and Paragon's Gift (we need to fix the bug where it doesnt take hp if th sov is in a city) today. I've already rebalanced Destiny's Insight. Keep it coming if you discover other exploits.
You are welcome and thanks for a painfully addicting and awesome game!</

Yeah, in my game design experience, I've often used both linear and exponential bonuses on the same power up. Like a healing potion that heals 10+25%, or like you said, inspiration giving you +1 AND +5%. +5% would be almost meaningless early game, but later, huge. And that makes sense, because the amount of essences available is extremely linear and limited.

It's around year 300, and there's 2 large advanced factions left, me and Gilden. It doesn't matter what I do, the game will always freeze on the next turn, and CTD. My computer far far far far exceeds the recommended requirements for everything.

I've been playing FE religiously since its release. Here's my thoughts on some needed adjustments to balance and mechanics. I've settled into a VERY powerful strategy: Death Worship + a very magically powerful sovereign + corrupting every shard on the map to a death shard and harvesting it, then using Ceresa's Durge and wiping out all enemies just by looking at them funny with a solo sovereign, even ultra-powerful Gilden armies of barons and sons-of-the-forge. So maybe this st
Two questions: (1) As a person who knows very little about the navy (or military in general) what is a "DD/CL/CA/BB/DBB style system"? What do they stand for? And what do designations like "Cruiser" and "Battleship" mean? (2) The above conversation seems to imply that if you go into battle with a fleet of identical ships the damage will be roughly spread evenly across your entire fleet. Is this generally be
