Fare enough and from what I see from the Star Trek, and Babylon 5 ships so far I think my Whitestar ships will look even more awesome in Galciv3...I'm hoping windows 7 will be able to run the game.
Make sure your running a Win 7 64 bit edition. This is what my OS is. The game will not run on any 32 bit system.
Rand, what component did you use for the nacelles on the Rebel? It looks like it doesn't have subsurface textures... was it just really small and you enlarged it a bunch so the subsurface is just really stretched? If so, that is probably the most extreme example of that stretching I've seen--I'm looking forward to the subsurface remaining a fixed size when components are scaled... Anyhow, looking great! I

Experiment with different ship parts, using the ship designer to make your own unique custom ships is like playing rock, paper and scissors. It's really hit and miss with ship parts, use what looks best to get the result of ship you imagined for the race your playing
Here are some new ships I've done since my last post. First... I finally have a Sovereign Class. WOOT! This is the hardest Star Trek ship design I've done to date. No thumbs because I took screenshots while still in ship designer screen and ones that look missing are there, just very small. This will all be fixed.
All these ships are awesome! Can ships only be painted blue and grey? Are they going to add the ability to paint your ships whatever colors you want?
Just as we had in GC2, we will have feature to chose our own ship colors. The feature just hasn't been added yet.
I am getting the same major lag with the ship designer when I build any ship bigger than medium scale. Ship designer slows down to a crawl and takes several minutes to respond to any user input. This only happens to me when I try to build in large or huge scale. I don't have this problem with tiny. small or medium scale ship building. This is definitely a bug in the ship designer for any ship building in large or huge scale.
Look for the Carrier module in ship parts. it is a fighter launch bay module.
I would personally like to thank the guy that started this thread.... Thank your for providing us a post for comedy relief! Without you we'd have had nothing to laugh about. Thank you for your contribution. The money you spent on the game is going to a worthy cause. We will get more toys to play with on the next update. I have been complaining about this also. I made a similar post about this a few weeks ago and got no reply. Others have also encountered this problem. When building custom ships I always encounter a major lag. UI slows down to a snail crawl. Toggling tools for ship parts work but after saving game and reloading parts flip back out of position. I have not had this problem I see on your screenshot yet but it does look like a similar bug I encountered while playing GCII. When I use to ma

Here are some new ships I designed. I decided this design style will be my Civilizations (Terran) signature ships. Being it an original design and unique. This is the Crossbone, she is a dreadnought destroyer and one TOUGH Lady. I have played this ship on the map against AI. AI ambushed her with 6 fleets of smaller ships. She took out four fleets before she bought the farm. Imagine what a fleet of this ship could do. [IMG]http://i115.photobuck

It's a medium ship built mid-game, and so it's only moderately equipped. But basically, I wanted a balance of speed, range, and sensors with moderate defense in all three categories and beams/mass drivers. I'm pretty pleased with the overall&

Wolfleader, I attempted to design an EVE Online NYX class today. However given the limited ship parts we have in the Alpha right now it can't be done yet. I have requested more ship parts be added and Paul Boyer said there will be much more additional ship parts added until it goes gold. There is also a request to have shipyard parts from GCII TOA ported over if it can be done. Right now there just isn't enough ship parts make a decent resemblance of an NYX Class ship from EVE
Played all GCII campaigns and beat them. Research is the key here to stay ahead of the other races while in campaign play. If you can out pace the AI researching tech the campaigns are winnable with constant upgrades to ships with latest unlocked tech, weapons and armor. I managed to research the entire tech tree before I beat the game in campaign mode.

Parrott, I don't understand why your redesigning base core ships that came with the game. Your basically just making ship that are already in the game. The ship designer is so much more than that. Why not create you own custom ships and leave the base core ships alone. You not ship building ship your just redoing ships already in the game. Doesn't make a lot of sense to me to remake ships you already get in the game.
Thank you erisxhild! Here is another one of my original shipyard designs. This is the UFP Wishbone CVB-45. This is my first large scale Battleship made with Alpha 3 shipyard. She is well armed and well defended. Looking forward to seeing how she does in battle. I really love how this one turned out!
