Not only for starting position, early, normal, late but also for ship selection relative to the tech tree and for victory settings.
Been thinking about starting capital ships myself, and given Lavo's AI insights, would suggest making them colony capitals** like the Explorer. That then shuffles around roles to other ships and so on...
The amount of resources required to produce a second Elder capital ship cannot easily be mustered in the early game so even a "normal" Vorlon or Shadow Flagship is ok with me provided you aren't trying that victory condition on a small map
Your first capital ship is still free even with the flagship victory condition enabled. For comparison consider how these starting fleets would do against each other with, and without, their flagshi

I've seen the graphic artifact near a black hole that jwagne51 posted at the end of reply 4465. It looks like a rectangular section of the planet icon sheet - there's a white star, ice field and part of the radiation cloud. If you pan the camera around the black hole it appears to move in the same way that lens-effects do around normal stars - could be

I agree broadly with Darvroth's suggestions, maybe using Primus for Centauri, for no reason better than what was shown in the series. You'd have to be careful with the Shad

[e digicons][/e] I don't think there many are other fragments of SotYR's music that lend themselves to such short event sounds. Some of the standard Sins announcement themes may work - Vasari's for the Narns, Advent's for the Vorlons for example. The TEC one works equally well for EA or Centauri, just a

Some of the recent changes Rebellion's to planet bonuses and artifacts are interesting. Efficient Ship Factories: -30% ship cost - can make a huge saving on the more powerful cap ships Fortress World: +1 starbases, etc - a pair of upgraded Minbari starbases + Kanets == "they shall not pass" Planetary Organic AI: Now has +25% population. That combined with the new infrastructure upgrades can support massive populations. Power Core Relic: Now has +0.1 AM/sec

The beta is available purely to allow the Sins community to, at their own choice, test & provide feedback on new developments. That just sounds like LAA (Large Address Aware) which has been discussed numerous times over the years. This is just linker flag (/LARGEADDRESSAWARE option) which would normally be set when an executable is compiled. The devs said that turning on the LAA flag may introduce instability, hence why it isn't used:- see https://forums.sinsofasolarempire.com/407088/page/2/#3187149 The experience from forum members with LAA seems to be mixed - some get it to work fine, while others

IIRC Trinity was patched to be Windows 8 compatible, so the old version of Trinity on a disk probably won't have that fix. FWIW I downloaded & installed Trinity from https://store.stardock.com and had no problems installing on Windows 8.
