From an interrupted, but fully entertaining, initial session: Nice stuff, I have already found a couple of parts just perfect for one of my animated designs. Now, I have to figure out how to actually make the idea work, but I already know I will like the way it will look. The controls on some of the animation functions feel much more fluid to handle. Also, I noticed some fantastic looking new hulls in the collection. And of course, everything looks even bette

The Mother of All Motherlodes The colonizing team found vestigial traces of a large impact crater on the Western Continent of this planet. Mapping that circle indicated an impact point long covered in more recent layers of terrain. Underneath, the team found that the asteroid that made the ancient impact was nearly pure gold. A micro thin layer of gold particles has been identified in the older sedimentary rocks showing a cloud of gold dust settled the

It does this with stock ships and it also does this with ships on long right-click auto paths. I have not seen a pattern. It does seem to be registered as uncovered fog, and one time I had it fill in after a reload of the game.

Concerning the efforts to maximize the Hyperion Shrinker: I use the Thalan tech tree and can get +2 from the Mother Hive and +3 from the Gaia Vortex. It is interesting to see the variations available. Good work by the devs!

I have almost finished a ship set. I need a transport ship, a freighter, and possibly a command ship hull for a fleet augment platform. It takes me a while to come up with an idea, then plot and plan for the way to make it happen, and then fuss with the ship designer until I am happy with any one design. So, since I got this far, I thought I would share. All these designs are in the Workshop, search for them by name and find the workshop that nobody owns. Warnin

The replay in the stream chat suggested that there were no more Founder's keys. If you missed the anniversary sale, you missed a chance to catch up with us Founders at a real bargain. ;) At that price, I gifted a copy to a family member. Now, if we can get his wifi figured out, I have the next best thing to hotseat. But keep your eye out for sales and it doesn't seem like it will be hard to keep up.

I like Durantium for Durantium Refineries, Antimatter for my Missiile Augments and Thulium for healing augments. Resources in general are good as trade items, especially if you are pitifully cash poor. There are single case uses I have found for all the resources, and they also enable various Mercenary ships, which can be very helpful. As you can see, there are different ways to use them depending on play style. Don't copy any of us, find an answer that is all yo

I couldn't resist this one. It's your fault. You got me started. Rock and Roll Will Never Die Rock and Roll will always keep coming back, just like a certain well known pseudopod irritation. This time it materialized as young singer with a marvelous voice, several, in fact. Multiple subspace audio feeds are dedicated to playing her signature C sharp in continuous loop. This must be an opportunity for something.

I have an I7 5960X with 8 cores. I have similar interests as you have. I have not found that GalCiv is straining my graphics card. I haven't done max map with max ships, etc, but the game is just not the heavy graphics hog that many others are So I don't expect that will be an issue. Some of that depends on if you have a 4K screen or not. Those are greedy. I don't play the standard graphics intensive games that benefit from the single core
I have Gauntlet's Race Mod, but I feel that Mercenaries should have been released with a bunch of new ones instead on relying on people to mod the game to add a few more. I don't see making new minor races being hard at all, just add a new logo, leader foreground and portrait and then a backstory, penalty, shipstyle and done!
If you think it is that easy, then go ahead and do it. You may

You're right, and I should have recognized the name. Rename it to Fireworks Show or Lava Rainbows or something and it will still work. However, maybe fire rainbows aren't limited to strictly one Terran based phenomenon. I'm for letting fire rainbows be whatever fire rainbows want to be. :)
Here's an example from a game I finished last night. I usually play L/8/I Large 8 players (7 AI and me and typical amt. of minors) Incredible. I timed things just right as I hit 75% map influence just as the remaining Torean planet flipped to me. It was just me and two small Mal. civs so rather than conquer them (my friends), I figured just spam some influence SB's in open spaces and get influence and diplo techs and win by

Based on one of the suggestions... Fire Rainbows The tectonic and molten core activities on this planet have twisted the landscape, tilting entire mountain ranges on their sides, including the volcanoes and hot gas vents. The many valuable minerals in the core seep into the gas vents and their eruptions cause huge arcs of multicolored flames that shoot out miles across the plains. They are extremely impressive and beautiful, but

I went to buy a bundle package as a gift, and Steam wouldn't let me because it knew I already owned everything. Other items were selectable, but not the package. Edit: Bought it through his Steam account. It took out the element of surprise in the gift, but the giving got done. It is an interesting irony that his copy contains everything I presently have so far, but it cost 27$ to buy the bundle and 100$ to buy my founders package. &nbsp

Extreme Nepotism Despite rigorous screening paradigms, the entire crew and colonists of this ship were all one extended family. They now have a total stranglehold on all political, commercial and military operations on the planet. This is obviously both clever and unfair. There are complaints from all subsequent colonists. What should we do about it? B There are subtle ways to handle this. Encourage all other families to increase populat

GC2 had these events that come up late game. The Jagged Knife is an infamous and (for me)unpopular example. The ambassador incident that suddenly triggers war is another. I expect we will see something like that sooner or later in GC3. Brad has acknowledged the issue and pretty much hates it as much as we do. The fan response to the late game events can be mixed, so I am sure they are trying to be judicious about what monkey wrenches they will be throwing into ou

If you go into the ship designer and use equip mode to add equipment parts, you can then hide those parts one by one with the hide part button. If you shift select multiple parts, and then use the hide parts button, it will turn the parts semi-transparent to indicate they have been hidden. However, if you save the design and then call it up, either in a shipyard or in the ship designer, the parts will not actually be hidden. I use this hide part feature to hide part

I would very much like this to scale with difficulty. Higher difficulties can have them start with more techs. Lower difficulties would be similarly nerfed for beginners. It is a potentially great game changing event and needs to be a little more dramatic plot line for those looking for that kind of thrill. A diplomacy option to gang against them would be a decent addition.
