Well I never did like labels much David, they do such a disservice, and generalize too much. Of course "a nutcase spewing leftist propoganda from a deep-dark hole" isn't too general, hehe No, I wouldn't ever label you, or anyone else.
Xerraire
Dave & bakerstreet I am starting to be crazy about both of you You have given me good reading and stimulating remarks. I agree with you baker, I hope Saddam is removed. I never wanted a war, but it has come to that. There is nothing to do but watch the news, and hope and pray a lot. I like to stay and be informed. But since 9-11 I have learned something about myself...having lived
Since the subject is the war, here is an interesting headline... Al-Qaeda fighting with Iraqis, British claim Near Basra, Iraq: British military interrogators claim captured Iraqi soldiers have told them that al-Qaeda terrorists are fighting on the side of Saddam Hussein's forces against allied troops near Basra. At least a dozen members of Osama bin Laden's network are in the town of Az Zubayr where they are coordinating grenade and gun attacks on coalition positions, a
bakerstreet I love that Twain quote, he had a biting wit that man.
Davidk Whew...I am so glad you don't think we'd use gas. I am sorry, but I have this terrible habit of being literal to a fault, almost with childlike innocence. I often get teased from my friends and family how they have to speak very plainly to me. Hehe, even people in chat have learned to write J/K even before the write what they are kidding about, or to make for me, "this will be a hint of sarcasm" disclaimer. And unfortunately, I am the lady who gets the joke
bakerstreet "Just know, ye of little faith, that when Saddam Hussein buys US uniforms, puts tanks beside elementary schools, and sends women and children out in front of his troops as human shields, YOU are the ones he *knows* he can count on" I suppose that was the only answer to give. You said a lot with that one.
David What you say is very distressing. Why do you live here if you feel your government is capable of that? You know of Iraq's atrocities, you can't possibly put us in the same league
gee, wonder what all those suits are for? Halloween?
Well then, bakerstreet, let me keep this going with a headline from the war in Iraq that I can't understand why its not in boldface print everywhere: Discovery of Chemical Suits Reinforces Concerns CAMP AS SAYLIYAH, Qatar — A U.S. general said Wednesday the discovery of 3,000 chemical suits in a central Iraqi hospital that had been used as an Iraqi base raised concern that Saddam Hussein's regime was prepared to use chemical weapons..... Doreen, you sure have an ally in my husband on that one. He has been saying the exact same thing for ages now. Naturally it would have been better than a full fledged war, I just cannot see with my little knowledge how they would accomplish that task. But I agree, would have been better than this. But we're in it now...no turning back.
Doreen, your idea sounds like my husband. He was in favor of taking down Saddam and he regime, but as you said through secret forces. I thought like Jafo, how? that does seem suicidal.
By the same token, we bombed and left last time, and that wasn't right either. It's only right to help rebuild, offer aid, and hopefully our presence will maintain stability for awhile at least. Of course there are no guarantees in anything, because as paxx said, it could well be the real challenge.
paxx your condemnation (you can't condemn iraq with the oil wells) seems only aimed at americans. I don't think I am the only one that is getting that feeling here...

i found the link you meant anyway nothing an internet savvy lady couldn't find
For my part, paxx I jump around to all newspaper sites. I am very international, having lived abroad, married with a man from Spain, and have friends everywhere. I didn't have that link, thanks.
paxx you don't have any disappointment to express regarding Iraq burning up their oil wells on purpose, or their fake surrenders, or their car bombs aimed at journalists? or is this behavior you expected from the iraqis?
~Paxx, you wrote: "There's no denying that. I don't know where you saw that they've been executed, I haven't heard that anywhere. Apparently they were attacked by Iraki troops, they engaged in combat, some were killed, some were taken prisoners" Here the reports are: "While an Iraqi smiled at the camera over the bodies and shifted them to better display the wounds, the tape showed what is purported to be U.S. Marines in U.S. military attire lying on the floor with serious head a
7 out of ten first try!
I thank you for that link, Frogboy
paxx if you watched it twice and still feel that Iraq has kept its word, when they were shot in the head and abdomen, their bodies picked up and laughed at, I would say its not only the US that is "get more uncensored images and commentaries." as you put it.
David Respectfully, can you show me the money trail? I would considerately read anything you can show me on it. I would think oil alone would make him rich and powerful? A deeper question might be, why isn't that enough? Looking at the television and seeing, not one, but many palaces, how come a person can't just make his money, and enjoy life?
My trust in the media is likely in the negative numbers, but, I just read something on UPI of interest: http://www.upi.com/view.cfm?StoryID=20030321-023627-5923r Here is a quick excerpt: "A group of American anti-war demonstrators who came to Iraq with Japanese human shield volunteers made it across the border today with 14 hours of uncensored video, all shot without Iraqi government minders present. Kenneth Joseph, a young American pastor with the Assyrian Church of the East, told
~bakerstreet I usually always stay out of these kinds of threads, usually no minds are turned nor persuasions changed, but I had to tell you that I sure enjoy your logic, and wit in how you explain yourself. No one likes war... I didn't particularly like 3 airplanes falling from the sky in our backyard, either. Killing our precious citizens, injuring them, breaking up families, disrupting our whole way of life, businesses, economy, and turning regular people into watchdogs for our o
I think it takes a great deal of understanding...mutually. I indeed know its possible. I just persist in saying its not easy to do.
