I have noticed the same stray graphic in the top left corner, and the inability to put it on the hull when that behaviour starts.

Oh well - I did say 'appears to work'... Last game I found that I crashed on my 7th colony when I didn't immediately set a build queue for it...as far as I can tell; as the build queue was the only thing I did differently for that colony. As for the Autopilot observation above, I have only ever used autopilot for my colony ships, and directly to the planet to be colonised.

A number of us have had the situation arise where the game crashes after creating a colony - generally our 1st. I have found, and Evil Roy seems to have had success also, that if the setting 'Show Grid' is turned ON the crash dosn't happen. I have no idea why this appears to work...try it out and post your finding here.

Evil Roy - did it work? I have emailed Scott about it but no I have not created a new thread for it...if it worked for you then I/we should.

Evil Roy, this is off topic but in answer to your colony crashing - I fixed the problem by turning on 'Show Grid" - I have no idea why it seems to have made a difference but it has...

I just had a 'Windows has had to shut down your program..." notification but nothing from from Smart Exception about this crash of GC2... Update: Rebooted and SE seems to be working now.

Yip I had one of these too Here is a screen shot of how GC2 looked during this lock up - Link Don't know what the Dialogue box was for... Update: Just noticed a debug.err file so have sent it off...

I have noted that there are Dialogues displaying that disappear too quickly to read what they are. I have established one of them is the AutoSave notification - I have AutoSave set to 1 turn, but there is at least one other dialogue I can't identify; although it does seem to move the map focus while displayed to some other part of the map, but it all happens to fast to know what it is about, or where it is about.
