I agree. The large-scale economy simulation appeals to me most. I may buy it during the Steam Winter Sale. If you're going to buy it, I have to recommend holding out just a bit.

I certainly hope custom races return, using the new ideologies system. In GC2 I tried recreating the Vong from Star Wars but couldn't find any way to give them attributes that would do them justice - they are supposed to consider mechanical technology blasphemy. "We do not live side by side with impurity. Your civilization is built on abominations. Your galaxy is polluted. We have come to cleanse it, so that others besides our warrior caste may occupy it and live

Source: https://forums.galciv3.com/449924/page/1/ Some quotes are slightly edited for compactness/clarity. Brad Wardell: We developed a new engine for the game so that we could have prettier visuals and support bigger galaxies and that. SteamWorks is what’s making the multiplayer possible. I hated that I had to choose 2 civs that could not participate in my conquest of the galaxy a game.
Same here. Did you have a tendency to pick the same two? For me one was usually the Iconians; the second varied.
[...] The thing is, diplomacy, espionage and the such are absolutely essential to the strategic aspects of the game, otherwise known as the reason people play this game. Nobody play Galactic Civilizations for the pulse-pounding, visceral combat; we play it for the management, planning, number crunching and broad-scale military maneuvers. I am in crippling non-founders pain! Nobody loved the music from GCII as much as I did! ("most listened to" on my MP3 player) (In good humor:) Wintersong... those typed "na"s that I can't hear... how could you? Who paid you? Was it a vengeful Drengin that got away? (Okay, I really need to get over a game soundtrack) Da daaah dah daaah... Da daaah dah dah dah daaah. (Changed my mind)

You'll still be able to play them in GalCiv II but come GalCiv III, they won't exist. Eradicated. Individuals of the two races may still exist and show up in GalCiv III but as playable races, their histories will come to an end." Granted, it's an old post (made long before DA came out), so some things may have changed since then, but that was the pl

I think the Korx were a big part of the game, and I hope they return as an independent faction. Whether or not I'm evil, I like having a race whose morals are dictated by profit. As far as the Krynn, though, I thought they were "committed" to spreading their religion. Giving that up for commerce seems out of character, unless that's a means to an end.
