The hurricane hit south Florida Thursday night. The area where I live (Kendall) was hit pretty hard and it was only a cat 1 when it arrived. Right now it stands as a cat 5 inbound to New Orleans. I hope everyone there is taking the necessary precautions to stay safe.

If by the end of the contest your skin is among the top 3 then YES, you are a winner
CW, you don't need to apologize as it not your post that stirred the pot. Your post is a point of observation; it is the comments that followed the caused for a possible drama outbreak
Not much at all JAYdd, that is why I carry my fire extinguisher at all times. (Hard hats optional)
I understand what you are saying Bash, but testing every skin uploaded to WC will be a huge burden on the admins that volunteer their time here. There is probably a hundred of skins/designs uploaded to WC daily (maybe more) checking each one to verify functionality can prove to be a tedious task for the admins. Take BootSkins per example, the admins will have to download, install and re-boot their PCs to see if the skin works. I don't think they
They are all true artist indeed, otherwise they would not be at the top.
Bash, I saw your BootSkin and I noticed it didnt say WC Subscription Contest. You can edit the description of the skin by clicking the 'Update' button, but DON'T check any of the boxes or it will trow the skin back into moderation cue.
Whoa, I missed the whole 1st day of uploads due to the effects of Hurricane Katrina. (No power for about 1 1/2 days) But it's good to know we have a competition now. Good luck to eveyone
The top 5 skins you see on the right side of each category are placed in order of total downloads by registered users (daily) Popular skins are placed in order of total downloads by registerd users(on the past 30 days)
I gotta side with NT on this one
Can some one make a WB based on that case? The Answer is YES. The real question will be... How much will some one charge you for making that skin?
Im listening to the 1st episode. Great information. It's also great that now we have a chance to place a voice on the artists giving it a more personal interaction. Kudos to everyone involved in this project.
You dont have OD? Wow..I assumed most skinners had this.. The problem with me is that I only buy the programs that I skin, and when I first started I only skinned WindowBlinds. I need to get OD now since I'm starting to skin all of SD applications <img src="http://images.stardock.com/wc/smiles/Laugh
Do the participants need to not already have OD ? Or can anyone still compete in this regardless The contest is open to everyone. Those that dont have OD get a chance to win the software pack and those that already have OD get a chance to renew it. Hmmm, thinking about this... I don't have
Thanks Hus, I'll do that. Glad to hear that Solid Nuts
This sounds like a time bomb is about to go off.
As many of you know, this year's Skinning Contest sponsored by some of the community members will be on the way soon (4 days to be exact) This idea gave way to another skinning contest. This second contest will target a more advance group of skinners since the categories on which they'll be competing are; <a href="
looks matter more than functionality and performance. WAY, WAY, WAY more. With this statement you are proving my point and contradicting yours. If looks matter more, then personal opinions will come into play since everyone will rate according to how pretty the skin appears to them, and what mig
That 2 would be a subjective rating based on your personal opinion, that's the incorrect way to rate a skin. You shouldn't let your personal opinion come into play when rating a skin... Now you are just contradicting your self. First you say that how the skin looks is WAY, WAY, WAY more important tha
Hus. I'll give you another example. Your Bloss skin. In my oppinion I dont like the color. It doesnt appeal to me (Too dark for my taste) But the skin is great in function and performance. It doesnt slow down my system. The graphics are clean. All buttons work. Now should I rate it a 2 just because it's not 'pretty' enough for me?
Sorry, I gotta disagree with that. Skinning is an ART...and looks matter more than functionality and performance. Nope. Drawing/Painting is an art. Skining is a combination of graphic program manipulation and ideas. And looks are not going to make a skin performe better. If you have a 'pretty' skin b
It would be great if all work was to be submited on the 26. It will give all contestants an equal amount of time. But you can submit your work after 08/26 but not after 09/09 The competition will end Sep 09, 2005 at midnight (US Eastern Time)
Can you guess mine??
I don't understand the obsession with the ratings, and personally wouldn't advocate to change them. I think you have totally missed the entire point of the post. This is not about any obsession with ratings as it is neither about my or any particular author's work. It is about the entire rating proce
. Actually, with the current rating system, I have to disagree wholeheartedly. Just go and remind yourself what the different stars mean (at this time). Just mouse over them and see what pops up: 5=I love it 4=I like it 3=It's okay 2=I don't like it 1=I hate it This maybe a big part
