Maximillian, if you have contact numbers for the CAT Dept. or the ISP group, please email me at [email protected] AOL is a pretty big organization and I work with mostly management. Sometimes these problems are best resolved with the "chips and bits" techies.

Recently I heard from a good friend of mine and a contributor to WinCustomize. Many of you may remember the great DesktopX themes created by Sebastien Bruneau, known as The_Artist. Sebastien always had a vision to create the Next Generation operating system before Microsoft could. I think in many ways he was influential and certainly his themes were popular. Screenshots of his work appeare on Paul Thurrott's site, for example. Sebastien is serving his country in the Canadian Ar

The official version of the Messenger 6 Preview is now freely available from the Microsoft site: http://messenger.msn.com/download/v6preview.asp This is not a "leaked" version, but is a public beta. Just a cautionary note about "leaked" versions. When a software company doesn't release a version even as a beta, it is usually because they feel it isn't ready yet. Sometimes, a little patience is a good thing. <A HREF="https://www.wincustomize.com/index.asp?Cmd=full&N

The Nintendo skins are only LEGALLY available with the purchase of a console or game in Europe. Doghouse, if you are suggesting an illegal distibution of the skins, WinCustomize is the wrong place to do so. Let me explain why. Alexandrie and Treetog, skinners par excellence and Admins of this site, make money selling skins. The skins only have value if the buyer has control over them. Some companies choose to distribute the skins freely. Nintendo chose to incorporate the skins

Treetog and Alexandrie have created some wonderful desktop themes for Nintendo of Europe. They have posted new screenshots at the Pixtudio site. Only people who buy and register a Nintendo game or console in Europe have been able to download these wonderful themes, so it is a bit of a "tease." But it does show how skinning can be an integral part of a successful marketing campaign. Special thanks to Pedro Sanudo of Nintendo for his permissions!

Actually, thanks should go to John Malley, marketing director of BFG Tech, and to Paula Kim of NVIDIA. If you enjoy the skins and are looking for a new video card, you might think about supporting the companies that made it possible. Screenshots were posted in an earlier article. To see a preview of MikeB's skins please visit http://www.skinsmith.com/ and to see a preview of Treetog's skin, visit http://www.pixtudio.com/ <A HREF="https://www.wincustomize.com/index.asp?Cmd=full&N
