Graphic card problems in Personal Computing WinCustomize Forums

I just got a new graphic card nvidia 8800gt and installed it and it has place for extra power so I hooked it up. At first it worked fine but then all kinds of stuff happened to computer, green kind of lines and everything just quit. I thought maybe it was some programs I recently got so I uninstalled them and it still happened. So finally I removed card (which was real hot) and put old one back in and problem went away.. Does anyone know what happened and why? Also installed new power suppl

dystopic--I 've had good luck with their computers but the technical support is another story..Thanks everyone..Switched to the corsair 550w instead I think it's a better fit.. :)

It's a Corsair 750 watt power supply. It's an XPS 420 system (Quad core, 8600gt graphic card, which I'm going to send back cause I don't play any games so I'm going to try Quadro card, 64 bit Vista 8 gb's memory) it came with 375w psu and upgraded to 425w cause that's what they said is the most it can handle. Will too big of a power supply hurt other things or do they only pull what they need? I want a bigger power supply but the guys at dell says it can only handle 425 watts. At the same time someone else there said it's ok to go bigger & that it won't hurt anything.. Who right? Does anyone know how to fix media player from not closing (running) when closed button clicked? I mean media player closes but still runs in background, and the only way to close or stop is through task manager. The guy at dell says account is corrupted and making a new account should solve problem .. Is there another way than that because that can be a pain..Let me know, thanks..

Just got new computer & downloaded tree size and it says 22 gb's used. Computer drive c says 227 gb's from 283 gb's which is about 56 or 57 gb's used.. Should I be concerned that the tree size reads about 35 gb's less? I tend to trust it as opposed to what drive c says. Anybody know why the difference?

It's that Bergs wallpaper I 've done in Vue 6. It will only let me go as big as 1440 x 900 any bigger and it says out of memory. I guess the 4 gb's of memory just isn't enough.. I've stopped every process I could and tried but it still won't go.. I like it the way it is and don't really want to change any materials. I think it's the water material & the iceberg material, translucency and some reflectiveness. The sky is just standard So I'm getting the new computer and hope it will help.. Not ju

Thanks everyone--the system is already being made by Dell, had good luck with them so..They say everything on it is compatible with 64 bit but they don't provide any kind of help on 64 bit system only 32...I shouldn't need any help with it if I have a question I'll just ask you guys, thanks.. :)

If you can order dvd from microsoft as an upgrade from your 32 bit system to 64 bit, what do they give you? It seems like it would have to be a clean installation, wouldn't it?

It's Vista..Let me ask you guys a question. The computer comes with vista home premium already installed on it. I have an older Vista premium upgrade I bought at the store to go from xp to vista. I was just wondering if I order 64 bit version from it, will it work on computer that I ordered? Or do I have to do a clean installation of the 64 bit...
