Yes, even though only in a Huge galaxy, my Survey Ship just single-handedly ended my war with the Drengin. A war I was losing, badly (Carinoids were giving me ships, for heaven's sake!)... until the USS Hero (Attack 13, Defense 22, 83 HP) wandered into the Drengin's assault path. Twenty-three battelcruisers, 12 starfighters, and five frigates later, the Drengin gave me all their techs (1), their trade good, and 460bc for 20 months to make me go away. Like Phaedyme, the Hero actually d

I routinely colonize Class 12's and 13's, and 14's are considered "prizes" because they're great and the AI won't go for them. I routinely have the +10% PQ bonus (not the full 15%); the extra plents may not contribute to my income, but they pump out extra constructors, provide additional voting and cultural influence, and provide additional range to my ships. And they hardly ever get invaded by anyone. Do they drain my income? Sure... But since I spend most of the game with my Spendi

In my first Huge map game, the Drengin started in a corner beyond my reach... a corner that had six yellow stars! All of a sudden, wave after wave of Battle Cruisers began annihilating my outward bound Colony Ships, freighters, and my far flung resource starbases. Then the USS Hero wandered into the neighborhood. It seems the Hero had been researching anomalies for the last several decades, and was now a Weapons 13, Defense 22 warship with 85 HP.... and the waves of battlecruisers (an

So far, I have played in Small and Medium galxies, against Bright opponents. I don't see how it is possible to lose a game in these situations. I always end up with a cultural victory (ending alignments of Chaotic Evil, Chaotic Evil, Neutral, and Chaotic Good), and very quickly. Only once did I even get a chance to *begin* research on Terror Stars; that was also the only game in which battelships and Dreadnoughts ever were built - the other three games ended with Battlecruisers being the "sup

In a recent game, I was voted the best race to build the (slightly risky) Galactic Monster Park. When I check the UP resolutions, I can see "Earth is nominated to build...." But nowhere can I see the option to build the park, or that it auto-built, nor is it a tech, a trade good, anything. Help!

I've seen this resolution twice in my five games. The first time, it was against me, but it was late in the game and I had 53% of the influence and simply vetoed it. The second time it was also against me, but it was very early in the game. I had only met the Altarians, and they had more influence than me. Bam, I'm paying 2% of my income to races I haven't even met!

I love the 10% PQ pick. I take that with minor research, morale, and diplomacy benefits every time. In an "Uncommon" or "Rare" good-world map, it gives you a great advantage; in a Common, it's still nice, but the extra points available for the other skills nicely complement it. I would agree, though, that PQ is probably unbalanced compared to the other abilities. Very little in the game increases PQ w/o playing Precursor Lotto...

Why not do what I originally thought was the case: Starbases can only have a certain number of modules - say, 10 - when this number is reached, no new modules without scrapping old ones. Want a Production-maxed starbase? it won't have more than Basic Defense....

In three separate games now, I have seen Major Races wiped out by the arrival of minor races. Usually it is the Fundamentalists arriving and taking the Yor's and Drengin's last worlds. Once it was the I-League taking the last Altarian (and one of my) world. That seems like perhaps being excessive. (Not a "bug", but certainly irritiating was when the Fundamentalists took one of my systems... that had 5 Class 14+ worlds in it! All had been colonized by me and improved to 16+, a

I saw the "multiple Trade Goods" bug this morning. Specifically, both a major power (the Arceans) and a minor power (the Alexians) had developed Diplomatic Thingies and Aphrodisacs; the Drengin and the Carnian(?) had developed Gravitonic Accelerators.

From what I read about the game's events, they are supposed to be non-Empire-specific (i.e. affect everybody), and non-game-changing (initially, but with potential to grow). (I also note that most of the ideas above are *bad* events... very few people sugested beneficial events!) In that vein, I offer: Dark Matter Cloud: A cloud of Dark Matter is moving through the galaxy, one sector at a time. Scientists discover that it is a form of "anti-information"... All planet
