Hey, vernmeister2u..How about we sterlize people at infancy and only allow a select few to breed? That would cut down if not stop abortion altogether. No babies would be murdered.. Hey Lunaticus, how about no. Sorry, your idea there is too whacked, and way out of proportion to what I'm talking about.

It's not that abstinance doesn't work, it's that people choose not to abstain. If egg and sperm don't meet, no baby. That's abstinance and yes, that would work. No, I'm not advocating abstinance, but it is preferable to me than abortion. VES

Actually, I think you have to be more specific than "the conservative christians" because not all conservative christians are against the pill or condoms, some are. But since I'm not a conservative christian (specifically the christian part), I say use all the condoms you want, use all the pills you want that PREVENT pregnancy, not abort it once it's occurred. The female can do whatever she wants with her eggs, and the men can do whatever they want w

For that matter, they would be less of a drain on society if we just went over and killed them right now. Yea, if being less of a drain on society is what it's all about. Of course, if we revised welfare they could be less of a drain on society too. There's plenty of ways besides abortion to make them less of a drain on society. But at all costs, we should avoid any sense of expecting personal responsibility out of people.

Without a choice, those 12 rape pregnancies would end up with a possibility of 12 unwanted babies. Why does being pro-life help that? Does somebody's quality of life not matter? Will that mother have a healthy pregnancy carrying a child she doesn't want? Would female teen suicide go up if abortion was illegal? (Then

Pro-lifers should look at their position from all sides, and then maybe they'll have an arguement which doesn't turn the stomach of those of us who know better Consider your post pondered. I have considered the unique exceptions. I have already responded to the unique exceptions in the previous thread

This is just drivel that has been copied and pasted on so many web sites it's ridiculous. I believe there is a Clinton "resume" floating around out there too if I'm not mistaken. VES

Cops never abuse the law First, I never said never. I have arrested a person that worked for me. I have had another person who worked for me (and on whom I had to take disciplinary action on several times) go to jail for rape. But there are ALMOST ALWAYS more circumstances involved than "I was just m

Shall I go on? That's not all of it, by a long shot. Some people wonder why I'm so cynical about the cops and our legal system. Maybe I'm just unlucky enough to have run into a bunch of bad apples. I don't know, but I've talked with many other people that have similar experiences. Yes, you sho

While I "feel your pain", I have to respectfully disagree that the situation is as bad as you say it is. I'll add one caveat to that. It matters to some degree where you live in this country as to how much of your freedom is abridged. Much of this I am basing on my experience, and my knowledge of law and the practicality of applying it. I am apparently one of those "enforcers" or "minions" for the government. Yep, that's the sum total of my exis

These are some of my opinions about two types of people in life, and how they parallel two types of players in the game of Poker. If you aren't familiar with the game of poker, then most of this might not make sense. (In fact, even if you do "know" poker it might not) :) In poker, you have folks who know the rules and know the rank of the hands. And then you have people who know the game. For purposes of brevity (for which I'm generally not known), I will refer to the first type a

I stand corrected - you do "get" it - you just don't have faith, right ? It is dissapointing but - ah well.. Yes, you could say I have a lack of faith in this regard. Faith is a "Belief that does not rest on logical proof or material evidence".* Faith is essentially believing in something that cannot

PoetPhilospher, Understood on the rhetorical patriotism comment. As to seeing both sides of the coin, you might be surprised how empathic I am. However, I will concentrate this response to these two sections: "It sounds like you don't understand why pacifists stand by the principles they do." *

My friend has a saying, "Conservatives are heartless, but liberals are brainless." While I don't hold to that statement in all it's harshness, I think it crudely illustrates the right brain / left brain concept (or thinkers vs. feelers). There is certainly a communication gap between the two. And no, from my point of view, this is not meant to imply that I think all conservatives are strict thinkers, and all liberals are strict feel

PoetPhilosopher - You read my words, and you assume too much. Who is it that doesn't look like me that I want to kill and maim? I "get" what you said. But I think it doesn't take into account that there are other people in the world, and in our own country, and in our own neighborhood, and even in some of our own houses, that use force to get what they want. It has nothing to do with what they look like, their skin color, their p

Courts are there to abjudicate legal matters, to apply the law equally, regardless of whether they are minority or majority members. Supposedly that is why justice is "blind". VES

Ironically, I have alway said that this is pretty much why you can't have a strong independent party. Each independent believes so strongly on such a variety of different "sets" of issues that you can't get enough independents to agree on any one "set" of issues. I'm generally closer to the libertarian way of thinking than either conservative or liberal. Past that, I fall closer to the conversative side, w
