Wow! These are amzing. I had been hoping for a Battlestar Galactica mod for a long time. These are fantastic! I know you are probably not taking requests, but, if you were, would love to see the Cylon Resurrection Ship and Cloud Nine!

I encountered a strange glitch with 1.11. I upgraded to 1.11 and started a game. About 75 turns into the game, I thought things were going way too easy. The AI wasn't doing anything - not building ships, not sending out colony ships, nothing. Not sure what's wrong.
Does anyone know if there is a way to edit .sav game files? Sometimes, using CTRL N, I get a particular random map that I like alot, but want to tweak - move player starting locations around, etc. I tried doing this by opening up the .sav game file in notepad, thinking it might be as easy to edit as an .xml file, but that did not seem to work. Is there a way to do this?
Hi Frogboy, Do you know if the planet skin bug is getting fixed in Beta 2. Bug where all 0 class planets in the game change to a single venus/rocky texture after save and reload?
Yeah, it would be interesting if you saw your own avatar in-game. Perhaps in the domestic policy screen or in the UP, where you see your avatar's portrait in-game. I think this would help players identify even more with their in-game persona. If you use cheats, you can "hail" yourself, press CTRL+ALT+T. Although, it will bring up the default race relations "movie" unless you replace that as well. Alot of trouble to go to just to see yo
I have tried reinstalling as well, as well as adjusting settings, deleting temp files - no luck so far. I have the download version and had the problem under 1.0x as well as the beta 1.1. I sent an email to support, so maybe Stardock will respond. Would be good if there is a way to fix.
Has anyone found a fix for this? I have noticed the same problem and seen multiple posts from folks, but no response from developers or a solution.
"Planet texture bug is still there! If you save and exit the game, restart and reload - all planets marked 0 - uninhabitable just change to a mars / venus like texture! " I noticed this, too, and have the same problem. Does anyone know if there is way to fix this?
Sometimes it takes a bit for the file to upload onto the Stardock server . Retry in a few mintues, and it may work.
Anybody have any luck with this? I am having the same problem. Took me awhile to realize this was a problem. I just thought the developers weren't being very imaginitive Love to hear if there is a fix for this. It does hurt the scenery alot.
Hey there, this happened with the initial release of the game - where the download appeared on SDC, however the files had not yet fully "uploaded". You may be trying to download and install something that is not quite fully uploaded yet. You might just want to wait a bit and try again. Hopefully, that is a good sign that the beta will be coming today <
Hi Yellonet - no worries, I don't think its up quite yet. Stardock indicated that 1.1. beta would be coming out this week, but did not say exactly when. Last I checked it was not up on my Stardock either (1:30 pm EST 3/23/06). Just need to wait a little bit longer <img src="http://images.stardoc
Will current save games be compatible with the 1.1. beta? I am about to start a new game, but don't want to if it won't be compatible with 1.1 - in that case, I will just wait impatiently for 1.1 to release
thanks, all. I still can't figure it out. I tried changing the contrast and brightness settings. I have an older video card, Radeon X300, so maybe that's it. (Definitely too much CIV IV. And now too much GCII)
Hi all, I read in the developer's journals that planet graphics include "city lights" that you can see on the planet darks sides - that city lights increase as population increases. This does not show up in game for me and am wondering if it is a problem with graphics settings, maybe a problem that I did not download certain files, settings problems, or bug? Any thoughts? Its a small thing, but a cool feature so I wanted to figure out h
Beautiful - that worked. Thanks for the suggestion and quick reply. I appreciate it!
Hi, I have noticed that not all my leader heads are animated in the foreign relations/diplomacy dialog screen. The Korx and Altairains are, for example. The Yor and the Torians are not. Not sure if this is a bug or if maybe I am missing some downloaded files or something. Any ideas?
There is a great Gamespot review up here: http://www.gamespot.com/pc/strategy/galacticcivilizations2/review.html?sid=6145309 The review gives Galactic Civilizations II a score of 9.0 and editor's choice award. Among the good points, "Extremely customizable gameplay provides superb replayability; the best ai in strategy gaming; very cool ship designer that significantly contributes to gameplay; truly viable variable victory conditions; will keep you up all night playing "ju
I love the idea of leaders. I have been thinking of way to try to add them via a mod... as a new random event, where, instead of getting a planet quality bonus or extra ship points, you get a new leader. Would love to see Stardock implement this. I think it would add a LOT of flavor to the game.
Is there a place where we can upload/download custom designed ships and hulls? I would be interested in downloading some of the BSG models mentioned in one of the earlier posts. Just curious. I'd love to see one section under downloads where fans can upload custom races, ships, flags, skins, etc.
Hi, you might want to make sure you are running with the latest update, too. I believe the current is 1.0D1.008. I
"Another bug is the credits.. I have lost credits when I load a saved game. For example I had 2700 and after load again it was only 600...! Thats makes me mad." Hi! I have heard in other posts that this is something that has happened to others. If it is the same issue as other reported, the issue is that the game does not save your economic slider settings... so when you reload the game, it resets your economic sliders to the default settings. Its not that credits are lost, it is th
I have never seen a development team so responsive as Stardock. There are multiple Stardockians posting on multiple threads, answering folks' questions. In addition, a couple things that really don't seem to help is that people don't seem to be : a)reading the readme; b) reading the manual; c) reading the sticky threads; or d) reading the forum posts... like this one HERE https://www.galciv2.com/Journals.aspx that says Stardock is planning to release an
For those wondering about the Radeon X300 128MB, that's what we have in many of our office PCs. As it turns out, GalCiv II runs fine on the X300, though you'll get best results if you turn AA down to 2X (or off). With AA to 4X, you'll still get decent frame rates, but it may chop a bit. Thanks for the good info!! I appreciate it and the
Hi all, I have a question about graphics performance with the Radeon X300 video card. That is the card I have as well. Can someone explain to me what sort of graphics hit I will be taking - I am trying to get a sense of the qualiative difference (trying to figure out if I should shell out some $$ for a new video card or not)
