I have ZERO interest in multiplayer. I have no plans to ever play multiplayer again in anything. I love strategy games like TOAW, EU III, Crown of Glory and Forge of Freedom. So, although I do not like RTS, I will tolerate it for a decent game, but only if I can pause the game to issue orders. Given the above (pretty typical for many strategy gamers), the question about Sins boils down to this: Is the AI up to giving me a good, hard fight for a looong 100
In this context 'sound card' doesn't mean a physical card, just some device capable of playing back sound. So your integrated HD audio is fine, no problem. And your laptop will have speakers (or a speaker) built in.
THIS is the answer I was looking for. The way the FAQ was written it sounded like I needed a third party audio card (Soundblaster, etc.) and stand-alone speakers to get the game to run under Vista. This sounded odd to me, since most laptops come equipped

My system specs are not the problem. I've got a Core 2 Duo T7500, 2.2GHz, 800Mhz FSB, 4M L2 Cache w/ 3 gigs ram and an 256MB NVIDIA GeForce 8600M GT. No, the problem may be this: the Tech FAQ in Tech section says specifically: " I try to start Sins but I get an "Audio Engine Failed To Initialize" error. This is an indication that your sound card drivers are out-of-date, that you don't have a sound card, or that you don't have any speakers connected (Vista). Please try installin

I travel a lot and for extended time spans. I bought Sins direct (download & boxed) from Frogboy et al. I want to play on my gaming rig at home and on my laptop while I am traveling for 2 or 3 weeks at a time. Can I legally do this? And yes, it does matter to me. If it did not, I wouldn't be asking.

Several of us were discussing the rigs necessary to run this game well and I came across a post over at the Wargamer concerning this topic. The designers suggest a dual-core CPU for best performance (IE and Intel Core Duo machine). One gent has: 3 MB RAM, nVidia 7800 XT 256 MB video card and a 3.4 Ghz Intel Pentium 4 I have a 2.8 Ghz Pentium D 820 (Smithfield) that has "dual core technology" but lacks the "Core Duo" label. Will my rig run the game any better

After playing the game for a couple of weeks I have mixed views. I like the game much better than Galciv II, but it is a bit light on colony management. The emphasis is on fleet/ship design and management. It has a "spacier" feel than BCII, which plays a lot like a land game. SWOTS lacks some things but it has some good stuff. It's fun, mostly. However, its information system is AWEFUL. They have a silly ticker for current events. The alternative is a listing that is fluffy with graphics, not co

"have a way to disable the victory mid game... I know it is sort of cheating, and I do not think this should be an option for Metaverse but I am dying to know what might have happened if..." Absolutely. I have quit several GC2 great games because I forgot to change the victory settings. It really put me off about the whole game. That is not fair to the game, but nonetheless that is how I felt.

Those colors are for controlled areas (i.e. borders) not for planets or stars. As a result, you could have a number of alien planets inside your border that generate insufficient influence to show up on the map. They are a pain to find. Hence the desire for planetary control colors.

There are a couple of things that I would like added. First, I cannot find a way to upgrade ships in a stack or fleet or at a planet. I have to get a ship into a tile by itself to get access to an Upgrade button (unless I upgrade a whole class). Can't you add a way to get around this cumbersome method? Or clue me in if one already exists. Second, there are some screens that leave me a little disoriented. For instance the planetary production screen - how about a mini-m

When I registered my Deluxe Galciv II I used the serial number on the disks and downloaded everything I could. Since then I have never been asked for or allowed to use the "special" collectors edition serial number. Does this mean that I will not get the special collectors edition "stuff"?

With the latest 1.03A I am getting a huge drop in my military power curve after re-loading a saved game, even though I am not at war and have lost no ships. Is the game saving the bonuses from anomalies and starbases correctly?

My title was too harsh. I would dearly love an edit function on this board. I LIKE all of the updates, even more would be good. I do not like having to download them ALL whenever I re-install; having the updates archived in some way seems a better answer. Nor do I like the fact that there has been no answer to my repeated requests for assistance with this problem, and the requests of other, for several weeks. No "we're looking at it" or "do this'....nothing. Burning a cd is not the ans

After over two weeks of posting, e-mailing with no response from Stardock and trying home remedies, such as re-registering in the Metaverse and elsewhere, I decided to re-install GC (previously updated to 1.03) in a last ditch effort to get my third game (with a whopping score of 700) score submitted. So, I did the uninstall and then deleted the directory, just to make sure that everything was clean. After doing the re-install I went to SDC to get updated and immediately ran into new problems.<b

Support on the score upload is non-existent. I have been unable to upload scores for two weeks. Repeated queries on the forums and direct e-mail requests have never gotten a response. Scores from my first two games uploaded with no problems. My last game's score refuses to upload. Frogboy is AWOL.

If I start a new game will it wipe out the score on the game I just finished and have been unable to upload? Right now I can't play GalCiv until I find out. What is wrong with the score upload. It was working fine a week or two ago. I am playing with only the first three or four library additions posted and the latest program update, so nothing should be wrong.

Bump, again. This problem has not gone away and I have seen two or three other threads started about the same problem: Once we could post our scores and now we cannot. I know my piddly little 200 to 700 point wins are not much, but they are all I've got!

I have counted 6 people today that have been unable to load scores. Several, myself included have not had a problem uploading scores in the past. There has been no response to any posts on this. The silence is deafening.
