Nah I was just messing around on one of the easier levels, I didn't want my gigantic map game to take all week! :) The AI level shouldn't affect how happy my own people are though, surely? And no matter what, taxing a trillion people at 100% and having them all like it seems a bit stupid. As an aside, I think the numbers are a bit off. I was taxing at 100%, about a trillion people, and bringing in 5000bc a month. So that means the average person is earning 5 credits a

I don't know about other people complaining about how hard morale is, but I had the exact opposite problem. I had my tax rate at 100% ... and yet I was seeing an approval of up to 97%. So 97 out of a hundred people thought it was perfectly OK for me to take all their money from them. I think this is a little, erm, wrong. :) In any case, it made it easy to coast to a tech victory. Some other bugs I noticed along the way was the % countdown to tech victory is te

I agree to an extent that you can only stop so much, but everyone is in the same metaverse rankings list, and it would be pretty crap for the people who actually care about the ladder to have to resort to cheese tactics to get to the top, because everyone else is exploiting the AI. Not that I care about the ladder myself, but I know some people get pretty fired up about these things - take a look at battle.net for an example. ;)

I don't think it's silly, I think it's great it's so hard to fight an early war. If early war was easily, it would mean you'd practically have to go heavily military early on or risk losing quickly. As it stands you can take a variety of research paths and still be successful.

I'm pretty sure the trade ones only work while the trading ship is in that particular sector. I had over half a dozen of them near my homeworld, and was seeing huge trade on some routes, and comparitively small amounts on others, at varying times. It could have been some other factor though, such as the natural variation in trade value as the ships move, although that seems less likely to me given the magnatude of the change.

I'd like for submissions to the metaverse to be batched. That is, if you're not online when you complete the game, you should still get the option to submit your score, and the game will submit it when you're next online and playing. Either that or some way to save the submission to a file so it can later be submitted (perhaps in the inverse of the way that software updates come down?) This would be very helpful for those of us who dont have a permanent internet connection (or
