It's a little touchy for me too. Another example is the "ships in orbit" section of the planet display. I some times have trouble getting the tool tip to come up when trying to identify ships displayed there. Tony

The right-click thing does help, but it is difficult to know what the value in research is. Where on the tech-tree does it fall? How much had to be spent to develop it? I just had an AI player offer to trade his ECM or my Advanced Majesty. The right-click traits of ECM look good, but I knew from experience ECM would only take about 4 turns to develop myself, and Adv Majesty had taken considerably longer. In Civ IV, you can at least see how many shields go into a tech, so

1. I don't have a middle mouse button, but when I hold down the scroll wheel, I can pan the ship with no problem. 2. It would be nice to be able to scale pieces after they are applied. It is sometimes tough to see how a piece looks for size till after you have snapped it onto the ship, and then you want to change the size which involves, deleting, resizing and then fiddling to get it onto the correct hard point. 3. Not a bad idea, but not a biggie for me. I zoom in pret

I hate scripted walk-throughs myself. For me, they are too structured, and I spend all my time trying to click on the next item and loose concentration on the overall lesson. I much prefer the vid approach where I get a overall feel for what I am to do and then I can go off and try it. To each his own, I guess. Tony

I just wanted to say I apprecate the Tutorial Vids. They are well done, informative, and not to long. I had a very good feel for most aspects of the game by the time I finished watching them. They even have some great interface tips included. Good job, gang! Tony

I noticed the speed of the scrolling is also dependant on the zoom level. The more you are zoomed in, the quicker it moves. Once I figured out dragging my view with the left mouse button, the lack of diagonal scroll does not bother me as much. It would still be nice to have. Tony

Did you place a order with a retailer or Stardock before the game was released? That is pre-ordering. That said, it sounds like all copies you will find in the next couple of weeks will be the Collector's Edition, as I don't think there has been a second manufacturing run yet. Tony

Even Steam was extremely slow on launch day. Anyone that pre-ordered Gal Civ II has had a week now to pre-load all but a small 6 meg file. I think they have done great at launch, and in the next 12 hours or so the servers will be up to speed as the rush will be over. Tony

Wow, I am very impressed so far. I love the new nterface, graphics, new options such as ship building and everything . It looks like it will be fun to just customize the apperance of ships. I can't wait to dig in deeper, but can't play more till this evening. So far, though, it looks to be an excellent release! Tony

For those waiting for it in stores, I think tomorrow is more realistic. Today is the SHIPPING date, so they usually ship from their warehouses today to reach their stores or direct order customers the following day. I am sure there will be some sightings in some stores today, but the vast majority of retailers will be receiving their stock tomorrow. (I have no inside information on Gal Civ II, but having worked years in a Big Box retailer, as well as being a rabid commuter gaming f
