Playing as the Yor Immmense scattered abundant everything. Tech and ascension victories off. Tech trading off. 9 Ai all intelligent... Terran, Drengin, Drath, Krynn, Torian, Korx, Altarian, Arcean and Iconian. Still playing but here are my observations. Korx died really quickly... lightning fast... didn't even meet em... Altarian and Arcean were really weak. Didn't expand much at all before getting killed. Arceans never had more than 10 planets out of 500 and Altarians never had mo

Congratulations to Stardock for landing such a big fish and good luck to GPG; I've really liked Supreme Commander and its expansion and will definitely be taking a look at Demigod... Honestly I hope all the DRM fanatics and their peddlers like Starforce, Pace Software, Sony Securom and the rest choke on their own bile. I despise companies that punish their customers and for example won't buy Bioshock until it's $9.99 and put out by Valusoft.

Personally (and I may be wrong) I think Galciv 3 is a long time coming. Stardock has been developing and supporting this game for 2 years and I think they may want to move on to other genres for a while like getting out that MMO they showcased a while back and maybe developing a new fantasy TBS. The Galciv series won't die out but I think Stardock will take a break and since they only have enough manpower to really work on 1 or 2 games at a time... I mean think about it. Id to

The big thing is the followup. In one of my current games I left a lot of low PQ planets uncolonized simply because I was going for juicier targets. The Terrans colonized piecemeal and I got three colonies from them quickly. The Drath spammed colony ships and got 4 colonies up in short order which was enough to keep them safe (until I invaded, that is, then I got a boatload of free techs...)

The Akkan's accuracy buff is useful to only two units... fighters and flak but for those two units it is great as it allows you to really hurt enemy strike craft with either less fighters/flak or hurt them a lot worse before they can get a second volley off. The range bonus is best with LRMs but is a good buff for all ships.

The only MMO I've found to be 'fun' has been City of Heroes/Villains. Aside from running out of things to do in the mid to late 30's the game is fun, fast paced, and designed specifically against grinding since even with the 'loot' Invention Origins they are really just gravy over regular SO's. A huge part of the game is the fact that you can design our character in millions of different ways and look cool even at lvl 1 and most costume upgrades are level rather than loot based. They also implem

First of all I agree that DRM and copyright are two different things although it is the IP companies fault almost exclusively for muddying that water probably beyond repair ie. people now consider that DRM less products in the software/music/movie world are not coprighted... DRM is a plague, poison and blight that I think will kill off most computer games in the future if things continue the way they are. A software company has a right to protect it's IP but it does not have a right to

Hacked, cracked and pirated software is wrong and like Kryo points out it does lose the company money even if the pirate would never have bought a legit copy anyways. However, when it comes to the digital BDSM that Sony, M$, Starforce and the rest (basically everyone except Stardock and Paradox) use it really becomes a 'meh' thing and add that to all the crappy corporate sponsored copyright legislation (I think copyright now last a millennium... or is it an epoch?) that basically is about as bad

Bioshock looked amazing. It's copy protection however just killed any interest for me until it drops to $19.99. I had two drives wrecked by Starforce (Neverwinter Nights 2) back when DVD-R drives were $200 a pop... I can live with a Cd-Check for single player and Steam for multiplayer and such but the digital BDSM that many developers go crazy with is just nuts. Kudos to SD/IC for making a great game and not treating paying customers like thieves. I also like Paradox for this I

Basically if you resell Galciv2 you need to give the guy you are selling it to not only the cds and the key (or just the key) you also have to give them your SDC info because they arent going to transfer the key to a new or different account due to security issues and the fact thats its a lot of time and effort for no benefit to them So you can resell Galciv2 you just have to do an extra step and if you have other software and games purchased well you gotta sell those as well since its

I always build a factory on a manufacturing bonus and always build a lab on a research bonus. If the planet is nice i'll build a farm on a food tile but if its class 7 or something its not worth it. Same with approval if the planet is low class I dont bother. Culture I never use but then I play large and above galaxies almost exclusively so I always have tons of planets anyway. In a small galaxy I can see how they would be useful if you didnt want to use a culture starbase

The Starship bonus is really really good it boosts any ship produced on that world by X% like a military mining resource base would. It not that useful at 20% and below unless you build huge advanced ships there but normally I can get 50% or even better and that adds a bonus to even small low tech ships.

I am running the latest beta. I did play vs terran in a smaller map and got stomped at intelligent but all the games I play on gigantic they play much more poorly than the other AI's. In fact I started to play against the terrans rather than as the terrans due to the fact that Frogboy said he'd heavily modified it vs the others. From what I've seen here is my take on the AI's on huge/abundant (yes I like 500 habitable planets and no I dont spend hours

I like to play gigantic galaxies with abundant planets. Now some AI's like the Arceans and Iconians are incredible in these maps and dominate. The rest are decent and can grab about half what the Arceans and Iconians can. The Terran AI is dismal in large galaxies. In a recent game I played where everyone was bright and the Terran AI was gifted (full AI + econ) and the Terrans had an entire corner to themselves with a juicy class 26 planet close by arou

I think there is a problem with the way the AI orders stuff around cause I have a similar bug where an escort fleet for a transport just sits over the planet after an unsuccessful invasion attempt. These were powerful ships that easily could have been used to kill a nearby starbase of mine that was just getting started but they didnt move. Overall even though the AI is more passive it builds up a lot smarter and in the end is a lot tougher (at least th
