Thanks Hawaii!!! I too *cheated* by setting the Dread & Excaliber ships to no tech requirement and cost of 1. This seemed to work fine and the Drengin were stockpiling them quite nicely. Interestingly enough Cari's followers (the Carinoids) went ape over them and had a nearly full orbital area of Dreadnoughts and then went to war with the Drengs. Guess they didn't take kindly to Drengin extortion hehehe LOL

I agree! Although I haven't downloaded and used ANYONE's events (too busy trying to find time to just play a normal game! ;)) I do really like the ideas and creativity that you have come up with Douglis! In particular this last set of events which deal with the existing races has really interested me (I'm going to download the Arcean one just to see what the mystery is! LOL ) If anything your creativity has increased interest in creating new events. Good job!
Found battle axe. Here is a picture of it in-game:
Awesome work hut101! You confirming those makes me feel a LOT better about the ships. Thanks for your hard work on that! I'll be actually beta testing them myself this weekend as well and depending on what you fellas tell me, I'll offer up the download Monday (both on my site and submit it here in the library) Thanks guys!!! :D

Oh I got you guys BEAT heh: "You shall henceforth be known as: Marquis of Breastseses, Jeffery Scott Varnes, Champion of the World Forgive me sire, I was raised by a mad herd of wild cows. " Now that's the best... in my experience I find that I just truley can never get enough breastseses :HOT:
One question, I noted that I didn't have to remove any files, just paste yours in. How did you get it to 'override' the existing Drengin ships?

I'd like to know that, too - how did you pull that stunt?
Hehe I have a lot of tricks in my bag ;) People didn't believe me in my thread about GalCIv the "most" modifiable game er (sic) when I said I have modded scores if not hundreds of games... sadly many of my mods never see the light of day
I would not change any of the colors used right now; you'll help some people but make it worse for others. I'd hold off on any changes until you can simply add a palette option so users can pick whatever text color combinations they want.
SirBruce, It would be easy for Stardock (o.k. Cari actually ;)) to provide a modified verdanacolors.fnt file in the library section, so that players could download and use on thier own if they needed to. No need to modi

I hope to have this out of beta soon... I appoligize for any delays, but I want to make sure all of the ships appear in the game correctly. I already have 2 potential bugs I have found that I need to solve somehow... :p also: So as not to hijack russelmz's thread Duglis posted this:
I love Thrull's Drengin Ship recoloring Mod. I have found them to be much better then the original color. Very impressive job of coloring the ships in. Not an easy task to perf

In the interim Cari could I suggest this scheme: Swap yellow and use the red in it's place Swap green and use the yellow in it's place This would be have the net result of using Red for no, Yellow for yes and does not put red and green together (for those who have true color blindness) Red and yellow should be pretty obvious to most everyone :HOT:
I suffer from color vision deficiency as well. While not completely colorblind I have great difficulty distinguishing between subtle shades of various colors. You can download Russell's cool new images here: http://www.cdgroup.org/forums/tbs/gc/viewtopic.php?t=157 The Sulaco cryo-chambers are very cool! Like those a lot :) The others are neat too. Be sure to check them out! If you want to try out his replacement military swap image look here (also very very cool): http://www.cdgroup.org/forums/tbs/gc/viewtopic.php?t=153
Can you distinguish between red and green better? I could modify the font file for you so that it uses the red font instead of the yellow one.
You know Cari, I tried this very same thing last night (great minds...) until I got too frustrated that I gave up. No matter which fonts I switched it seemed to have no effect on the diplomacy screen. I'm assuming that they were in verdanacolors.fnt, but I also tried messing around with arialcolors.fnt... I must be missin

Hmmm... I think it's your graphics program. I used your screencap to do it and it lloked fine in my game: http://www.cdgroup.org/forums/tbs/gc/download.php?id=72 If you want send me your image: [email protected] and I'll fix it up for you and send it back. :D Very cool idea BTW! :HOT:
The AI *does* cheat in some ways. Knowing the location of colonizeable planets is one example.
...and to expand further on what Code Monkey has stated - the AI DOES NOT know individual planet quality - only where yellow stars are at. If you feel this is the AI cheating then you could modify the tech tree file with notepad or another text editor (it's called GCTech.tech and it's in your data subdirectory) and change the entry for stellar cartography to have a

Whew! Well all of the Drengin ships are finally recolored and ready for beta testing. Here's a screencap: http://www.cdgroup.org/forums/tbs/gc/viewforum.php?f=42 If you're interested in beta testing and willing to play a zillion games to observe the Drengin ships and if they move correctly, have all of thier icons, etc. then drop me an email (you can email me from my profile at the CDG site) Thanks! :D

The funniest Star Wars parody thing I have ever seen is in Rouge Squadron (the original). If you enter a certian cheat code it plays all of the movies Mystery Science 3000 theatre style with little shadows if C3PO, R2 and Yoda in the lower right like they are in the theatre. It has a ton of outright hilarious lines in. Tears were rolling down my face it was so funny (but lets face it, simple minds are easily amused ;)) If you can get a copy of this game do a search on the internet for c

I have no less than 3 conversion ideas on the back burner :SURPRISED: 1 is for sure coming and is about 70-80% done. It's called Galactic UNCIVIL-izations. Won't say much about it yet... except it's more of a re-modification of the existing game... should make for some interesting gameplay [insert maniacal laugh and creepy Drengin organ music here] The second has some IP issues so it won't be appearing here any time soon, but it will be made available for all on a seperate web

Being in the middle of a ship project myself I can attest at how difficult it is to make ships (and make them work right)! Here's a couple of things for future ship designers to be aware of: Blurry ships - the ship rotater sucks. Sorry, but it's true. Beleieve me it is MUCH better than rotating and filmstripping by hand, but becuase it only works with 8bit .bmps it completely SLAUGHTERS the ship image and makes it looks very blurry. I spent a great deal of time using
