My formula's a little different, but I play on smaller maps... --Rush for trade goods --Sell the goods to economically break the AIs --Finish them off when I get to dreadnoughts Very easy to do. It works because the AIs seem to place a great economic value on trade goods, but they never race to get them. I can win the game on "Intelligent" without building a single starbase.

Miguel Going to war to attack an unguarded transport is not impressive; do you initiate wars for that reason? It would have been better to let you and the Torians weaken each other first, and then get involved. What would be impressive is if the Torians saw your transports and bribed the Arcaens to go to war against you.

The fundamental problem causing this problem is the limitation that prevents ships from different AIs to occupy the same square on the map. Therefore, it is possible for a non-military ship to isolate systems and regions of the galaxy unless the AI is prepare to declare war. If two races are not at war, then ships from their races should be able to move freely past each other on the same squares without obstruction. Depending on the how the game was designed, this may not be a

"The only problem here is that human-AI diplomatic trades can be very difficult to pull off while AI-AI trades are often too easy. Take a look at this message from "debug.err" in my latest game..." I complained about that after my first few days of playing. It qualifies as an AI cheat, in my opinion.

huh. They fit on one page for my printer, which was kind of the whole point. Check the margins on your printer setup and make sure that are the problem. I use Microsoft Photo Editor to print these and select the "fit to page" option (or whatever its called) that automatically sizes these to the page. Otherwise, they would be too small. How are you printing them?

The two-page tech tree has been cleaned up somewhat. The font is a little larger and some of the techs have been rearranged on the pages to make it easier to visually determine prereqs. Also, any techs for Trade Goods, Wonders or Achievements have been noted. I'll still be modifying this but I thought I'd upload this improved version. Frogboy, I also used Control-N quite a bit until I got comfortable with the tech tree and my strategy. However, it is so easy to win rushing to trade goods that I now actually use Control-N to give myself a worse position just to see if the strategy still works (it does). Regarding the 0%/100% strategy for sliders, I think it does make the game too easy and I wouldn't mind seeing some limits on these based on your government type (a la Civ). Your max for any slid

There must be something here because so many complain about it. I haven't seen it, but then again I play small maps. Everyone is in range of everyone else. It might be a cheat, or it might be a bug. If you still have a saved game of right when the AI colony was started, maybe the developers could figure out what happened.

Ellestar, any level about "Intelligent" is not intended to be a fair fight. If you want a fair fight, play "Intelligent". I, for one, would be extremely interested in hearing of any AI cheating you find on this level

Ellestar has been trolling "the AI is cheating" for quite some time. And it always seems that it is "cheating" on levels where the developers have specifically said the AI gets bonuses. Ellestar, if you find any cheating on "Intelligent" level, please document it and let everyone know.

Ever since I began using this strategy, I have been able to build every trade good and wonder. Once you get the first 4 goods (Translators, Aphrodisian & the two with Nano-Metals), everything is downhill from there on. Once you get to frigates, it's just a matter of deciding whether you want to win militarily or play simGalaxy. I even used Control-N to come up with the worst possible scenario I could find (class 17, corner sector, 1 habitable star in sector) and it still worked. I did h

I disagree. On Small & Tiny maps, I trounce the AI on "Intelligent" without rush-buying a single ship. You should think long and hard before rush-buying because it is so much more expensive. I rush-study to Diplomacy, change my government and change to 100% social spending for Diplomatic Translators. In the meantime, my survey ship is exploring the galaxy and making contact with the other races. If I happen to be in the center of the galaxy, I will purchase a scout ship (fairly

On the domestic policy screen. Here's an example from a random saved game. After going to the Domestic Policy screen, this is some of the information I see: Social slider: 55%. Social spending: 185 BC. Westerfield II will finish their Neural Net in 19 turns. Now, this is what happens when I try to adjust the sliders ** Click the up arrow one time on the social slider. Social slider: 57%. Social spending: 185 BC. Neural Net: 19 turns.

Every game is different, and I don't see scores as an indication of progress. I am just going to submit game after game of me exploiting the AI with trade goods until they fix it! :D

They offer way too much. I think I once got 5 early techs and 20BC/20 turns from 1 Civ just for Diplomatic Translators. The others gave me 40+BC/20 turns. Trade Goods are the easiest way to beat the AI, especially on the smaller maps. If they value trade goods so much, it would be nice if they rushed after them.

No, the point is that it is silly to choose what music you enjoy based upon the political views of the artist. Do you guys have any idea of how many movies and TV shows you'd have to skip if you wanted to be logical and consistent with this approach? What if Frogboy came out and said he was against the war in Iraq and that we were wrong to invade? Would you protest and stop playing GalCiv? If so, then you are an idiot. Sorry, but no apologies are forthcoming for that opinion.<b
