The entire speech is about 45 minutes, and you are correct. Those terms were used to describe her early racism, not her present day thinking.
When she spoke of the land that a black person was going to lose, she took pains to state the family had a "white" person lined up to buy the property. What exactly did that add to her story? In fairness she said the defending (good) lawyers were white. She said her father's killer (sorry for her loss) was white, no other details
But Shirley Sherrod is not racist.
That may be true, I'll give her that benefit of a doubt on the intention of her story, however she used poor choices for wording in her address (I have now seen the whole tape). How does the multiple use of their "own kind" convey a sense of racial harmony? Who is their own kind? Other Americans? What reaction would a white person get if he said "Obama received many votes from his own kind" in public. Sounds a lot like the "you people
They do wonder why FOX pulls in the audience taking their market share with them. Even the moderate left gets their info there. Only in a socialist fantasy world would a business on the ropes not try to emulate a successful one that isn't. I believe that secretly they hope Obama loses in 2012 so they can have something to report. I know it would drive me crazy if a scoop came in and I can't talk about it because their is a "D" next to the name or involved in the issue. Well two more year
I'm just wondering if this guy (Obama) will ever make a speech that doesn't blame someone, something else for any issue? Someone should do a montage of the "Blamer in Chief", it's not like there is not enough material available.
Now when will NAACP clean their own house? Not likely.
Ah, who wants to live forever anyway?
When people realize the only "reform" to take place was to raise the premiums of the 80% paying now so the 20% not paying, for whatever reason, don't have to and that the cost of Health Care is unaffected and continues to rise, maybe something will be done. Then again where have we ever seen a national entitlement program go away?
It's been such a liberal blue state for so long.
Yeah what is it with Maine? You'd think they would be for less government intrusion up there. With exception to the larger cities, it's kind of a "do for yourself" kinda place. I suppose it is the liberals moving in to escape the "utopias" they created in most of the rest of New England.
Can anyone name one good thing Obama has done for America? (crickets chirping).Realized the dream of Martin Luther King."I have a dream..."
I believe there was a little more to iMLK's speech than just having the first black president. But, you are correct in one sense, now the people can see that a black POTUS can screw up the country just badly as a white one could, thats about as equal as one can get. [e digicons];)[/e]
The NAACP is against any group or individual that would reduce or eliminate entitlement programs, and/or remove the Black versus White issues (because that's what keeps their coffers full). when they call a fellow black man, that happens to disagree with them, an "Uncle Tom"... they have lost any shred of credibility. As DG said two wrongs don't make a right.
George! You are Channeling George S. Patton!
Maybe, but I haven't slapped anyone yet.
Obama promised he would shut down the Bush concentration camps in Cuba, but these Gulags are still operational and poor brown, Muslim people are being tortured by Obama.
What about the dreaded "Patriot Act" that Obama re-newed and sign off on? I guess it isn't the big devil of a problem now that this administration embraces it. The street protests seem to have dried up. Even Code Pink seems to have moved away from the wars to a ban against oil. Can you say
There are more mediators on JoeUser than [just] Brad,
No slight against you or the other moderators Jafo, I was just try to advise the other party that is was unwise to yank the chain of the guy paying the bills. Just letting it go hasn't seemed to work IMO, as the thinly veiled bigotry continues on in o
KFC, I should have qualified my statement better... the perception of being a winner. That image can be squandered, as is the case with this Congressional majority and the current administration. They had everything, then went on to ignore the will of the people. The only majority that concerns them is their own.
KFC, while I agree with the premise of your article... I just can't see it happening. People love a winner and despise a loser, that's just the nature of it. I'd be happy if they just voted non-performers out. We really need term limits... two is plenty. Politics should not be a pathway to personal wealth and influence, unfortunately the kids are in charge of the candy store and are unlikely to "reform" themselves. Not Congress, but there has been a precipitous decline in O
All things considered, maybe we should give California back to Mexico as punishment for sending all the illegal aliens to the US?
It would almost be worth it to see the look on Mayor of SF, Pelosi, and Boxer's faces, as the Mexicans run them out of town. I'd revoke their citizenship and deport them back to California if they tried to enter the US. Ah, one can dream. LOL
I don't believe Egypt would want it. Too much of a head ache.
Infidelreply 36Where does this bullshit idea that we all have to explain ourselves and defend ourselves to each other come from?Well, in the real world (i.e. outside of the DNC talking points) it is called debate. And is a requirement for anyone discussing or debating issues (merely regurgitating talking points is neither). But JU has no rules against regurgitating talking points. As Humbordt indicated, it does not indicate a level of intelli

Functionality aside (it's been beaten to death), when has anyone stood in Best Buy and heard another say "show me the tiniest flat panel TV you have"? How many folks pine for their 12" (or smaller) monitors? Even laptops have gotten larger (netbooks the notable exception). It seems consumers gravitate (for the most part)to as big as they can afford, or can carry. So why the I-Pad or netbooks for that matter? IMO a big part is the cool factor, you don't really need a big screen to chec
building interstate highways qualifies as which of those two things?
Interstate highways were built to enhance national defense (Eisenhower saw the benefit of the Autobahn to the Germans in the Ardennes offensive). The public benefits by way of commerce and travel, as a desirable by-product of the highways. So if the government is responsible for defense, interstate highways qualifies as part of its job as I see it. That said, a pork barrel, highway to nowhere
Unless you are just "mocking" the other commenter's here for your amusement, you probably would find more like-minded folks over on DU, the Huffington Post, or the Daily Kos that can "appreciate" your demeanor better. You did fine. Take the refunded money and see another film at a warmer theater. Since no body was hurt, no use beating yourself up as to what you could or couldn't have done better. The only thing I would recommend is keep your belongings with you (as in right next to) with easy access. That guy could have sucker punched you while you were reaching for it in the next row.
