I am not sure you are aware of this, however; as an interesting twist, Stardock is pushing to get the bots ranked. This means that unless the AI is capable of beating people, more likely they'll only be used to provide filler for lower ranked games or in multiples against higher ranked Demigods as part of Handicap matches, 5v2 or 4v1.

I finally got to play a Pantheon Game last night with a live person on my side and at least one living person on the other. The improvements to the connection code seem to have improved the connections to real people on the pantheon. It was also one of the most fun games I've played in a while. Granted, my team won but, also, previously the game would pause for several seconds in both pantheon and custom games. Last night went very smoothly. If you want to test
The original concept of generals vs assasins was a single unit vs a stronger army. Now, it's a few minion units plus special soldiers that each general can create. OK. We can work with this. I'd suggest making citadel upgrades, especially for minions, be cheaper for generals. Generals still have a major problem getting gold and with buying Items and Idols, doesn't leave much for contributing to the whole team. It's still not a perfect fix though.&
I've spent far too long working on Erebus over the past week. True story from last night playing Pantheon, I had a full bite skill, full vampire minions, full stun, and half morale and 2 bat swarm. I had all level 4 idols. My "allies" were 2 QOTs. We had the enemies, Sedna and 2 Rooks pinned down to their base on a conquest on Inferno. We had a full army including giants, with level 3 armor upgrades and level 2 weapons. They manage to kill our offense.&
During a game, hit f4. That'll bring up a menu. You can only buy/select 1 per match. When you buy an item, it deducts from your total favor. After you buy an item, you can select it for free when you start a new game. Have fun.
I had a similar issue with just trying to direct my minions to attack last night. I was playing Erebus and had 6+nightwalkers. A torchbearer walked up to them, I selected all my minions and right clicked on him. Only 1 nightwalker went to attack him. The torchbearer walked up close, rained, nova'd, and shattered me and my (oblivious) troops. Right now, Generals are having a bit of an issue with being competitive. It's hard to balan
I liked the visuals. I liked the voice acting. I didn't like the script. Look at the intro for Total Annihilation. In the first 60 secs, we get the purpose for the war and what Victory means. It focuses the mental state toward single and multiplayer. Arm played vs Core for the fate of Humans across the Galaxy. I watched the intro twice and think that I understand what's going on. I could be mistaken as it seems to conflict slightly with the
This morning, while playing as Oak on Leviathan. There was one other person and 6 normal AIs. After about 45 mins, I found myself stuck on a flag, running toward the bottom of the screen. Abilities wouldn't work. Clicking just produced a pinging sound. I had a scroll of teleportation. Using the scroll teleported me to the Artifact shop but, I was still stuck. I had to quit the game. Will try to recreate later today. &nb
I think we might have a chicken vs egg question here. Let's try few different ideas that I think might be interesting to contemplate. 1. Seven Kingdoms had an interesting model where each city had a limited population. This population could be tasked to one of several different tasks, they would gain experience in those tasks making them more capable. As an aside, espionage meant sending "immigrants" to the opposing village and having them become part of their
First, I'd like to apologize. It was late last night and I didn't think to try to save the replay or get a screen shot. While playing on the Mines Map, as the forces of light, on the lower portion of the E, (Note the Orientation) No giants made it past the second tier of defenses. They just faced the right set of defences and didn't move, no walking animations. Either all giants got stuck or no additional giants spawned for the duration of the game as no giants ever
At the risk of sounding overblown, Impluse is not JUST a store. It's a store fronted by a company that is seeking to pioneer a standard of computer business. I, speaking as a single individual, will preferentially give Stardock; and by extent Impulse, my business with all things being equal. I want Stardock's Manifesto to become an industry standard and stand with others voting with our pocket books. I understand that the store must sell game
I had a similar effect with an item, the Teleporting wand. Again, during both cool down and stun, the box turned a bright red. Follows is the majority of the DxDiag. I'd like to join this petition! Please sir, can we have another? ;p
Gosh, That's a question. One part of me says, play it straight first. It's like trying vanilla ice cream for the first time. It's great. The expansions are the toppings for a Bananna split. A heck of a lot more to work with and you'll enjoy it also. In the end, I think that playing with the expansions is the best way to learn the game as it currently is. It's a bit more complicated, however; the gameplay changed quite a bit from the base game to the expansions. Just pla
If I had to guess, the people with the problem probably have the User Account Control turned on. Trying to access and change the .XML files probably causes the system to start throwing up access issues. When it can't find or access the text/data string it throws up the String Not Found error. I had the problem. My User Account Control is turned on. Yes, I know how to shut it off but, I am lazy. Plus, if something I don't expect tries to run on my machine, I can always t
I also had this error but, I think I just got it fixed. I fear this is a Vista permissions error. I noted that the last few people with this also had Vista installed. On a positive note, this may be a simple fix. Try to right click the icon and run as administrator. If you have the whole Windows Protection scheme up, it'll warn you about the elevated permissions. Just allow it and it should start up. After it loaded, everything looked like it was working just fin
Ok. Just finished my first game and walked away with 16% of the achievements. 8.5 hours on a small map with the Vasari (chosen as a random race). I destroyed over a thousand frigates thanks to NUMEROUS pirate raids and a Frigate happy AI. I maxed out a capital ship. I built one of each capital ship. I got the "He's no good to me dead" award. I picked up the Crystal and Metal Miner awards as well as the bombadier award. Part of the reason it took so long was a re
I had a similar problem with the Tutorials, I had to watch the second before the first would work. Still after watching the tutorials, I decided to play a game with the Advent. I Like Psionic/Tech massminds. Amazingly enough (or maybe not), I was completely lost with few of the techs/buildings with similar analogs. Aside from a few basic elements, the tutorials REALLY don't seem to help too much. The manual is a bit better of explaining how the game works while the tutorials give a v
Here are a few questions I sorta would like to know before I buy the game. I'll probably buy it anyway (I am weak-willed for strategy games.) 1) Is the economic model a reserve/spend method or a Income/outgo method? Is it like *craft where you harvest resources from finite areas and that contributes to a large pool of resources to buy units/buildings/upgrades? Is it more like Kohan/Total Annihilation/SupCom where you have an income/outgo and can run a deficit spending for say metal b
For what it's worth, there is a nice idea for a way to make the Tech victory a tiny bit harder, and perhaps a bit sweeter. Simply make the end-techs a requirement for either a building or a unique spacestation that must be built. In Master of Magic, researching the Spell of Mastery still required the act of casting it. In Civ, you researched several techs to build the parts of the rocket. Then you built them, launched them, and then waited to see if it made it there first.<br
