I'm not sure if this has been asked yet, but I know I've seen it mentioned a few times. This is the first time I've intentionally gone after a tech win and so I have built a godzillion different Research +% buildings . . thinking that these percentages would make the money spent go farther. (For example, in my mathmatically limited imagination, if I spent 100 bucks to get 100 research points. . . then build +50% of tech bonuses. .. that 100 bucks will yield 150 research points.)

Shouldn't they, though?
Yes for Global Auto-launch Double Plus Yes for Global Auto-launch with colony ship and transport toggle off switch. Though, I would put this at a much lower priority than. . . oh. . . individual planet Mil/Soc/Res sliders.
Something I found the other day while I was embarking on my D.R.E.A.D program (Drengin Re-Education And Deportation). When invading a planet, if you are grossly outnumbered, there are some different tactics to use, right? These tactics have some rather devastating consequences. You win, but at a cost. Either PQ drops drastically or the improvements are mostly destroyed. Unless, of course, you lose. Then nothing changes except for the defender casualties
Well, Viandox, that is why I subtitled it for Challenging/Tough. This strategy is far from perfect, it just works really well at that level.
(or) SG's strategy for Challenging/Tough mid+ galaxies From Dubya, I learned that you don't have to be smart, or even slightly bright to command the most powerful military in the world. From McDonalds, I learned to "clean as you go" and that (like Dubya) with the right marketing, even a clown can conquer foreign nations. From the Ferengi, I learned that you don't have to be pretty if you are rich. Hell, I guess I can credit Dubya with that lesson too.
Early in the game I spend about 3 turns with my Military at 100% and make every star system build 2 Corvettes. They have a low maintenance so that it doesn't drain my finances, they have a decent enough att/def so that my military ranking goes up enough to keep other Civs from extortion, and later in the game (when you are making battleships) they can be used to trade for tech, as gifts for other civs, or to kamikaze against Drengin dreadnauts - softening them up for your battleship to clean of
Re: Juiblex and morale I have this sick little scenario I play in my mind whenever I'm using the whole "Colony Ship Release Valve" tactic. I imagine that I call for a great state-sanctioned protest rally. When all the dissenters show up, I have the Davonian Space Marines escort them at gunpoint into a colony ship and launch them into the atmosphere. . . where I detonate it, broadcast live over the Entertainment and News Networks. "Now, is there anyone else
I've been perusing the Metaverse and saw the many, many Empires. Some of them had rather impressive scores, some had rather impressive members, some just had a whole lot of members. So I got to thinking. What is it that the players here look for in an Empire. Is it the nifty name? Cool, eye-catching 32x32 graphic? Quality of member scores? Why even join/create an Empire?
Known issue. Save the game, exit out, reload. It comes back. I've had it happen to Avatars and Dreadnauts, but not often.
Another change: As a way to limit the micromanagement, I would like a way to turn off the planet pop-ups whenever something is finished building. Once I let my Gov. take over production, I -know- what is being built. I don't NEED to click okay every turn. When I only have 5 planets, this is fine. . . but when I'm juggling 50 then it gets real tedious.
Okay, that ranks as the coolest piece of cheese I have read about. Pure mozzarella.
The Dixie Chicks are sitting on fat stacks of cash and while they might not be as rich as (though probably smarter than) the Texas oil emperor we currently have in office, I guarantee they're not going to be buying Ramen noodles at Save-Mor because of what some fan-inflated bumpkin said without a thought in her little head. Feed them all to my Drengin slaves. It is my culture that will assimilate the galaxy.
Oh yeah, and another thing: Cloaked Sensor Drones yeah, baby. Do not underestimate the sneakiness.
The one and only time I took the Creativity bonus, I ended up finding about 20 Precurser Rangers, each in a separate event, during the course of the game.
What I would like to see: Ships from conquered civilizations shouldn't just disappear. Half of them should turn immediately into pirates and begin causing random acts of mayhem. The other half should offer their services to a similiarly aligned influential, or militarily powerful Civ for a mercenary cost. For instance: In a sudden blitzkrieg, I manage to knock out the last Drengin planet while they still have about 20 Avatars floating around several sectors aw
A bug I just noticed last night. When I build dreadnauts, there is no graphic for them in any screen. Total invisible ship. ~SDC~
Ahhh so, grasshoppa. So "get it from stardock" doesn't mean www.stardock.com? Well, that makes me feel somewhat less ig'nant. Thanks.
Okay, I have looked all over www.stardock.com to find v. 1.03. I can't find it. I checked the metaverse DL page on galciv.com and it doesn't seem to be there either. Someone, please, give a brutha a hand. Thanks. :notsure:
