More Suggestions. 1) RANDOM ALIGNMENT. Right now, when I click the randomizer, the new alignment-corrected description immediately appears in the dialog box. Not very random, or very surprising, is it? Make alignment more mysterious! Actions, not words, should show us that the Drengin are good/evil/neutral. 2) Hyperlinks. The last post asked about finding a particular star...it would be nice, when something says 'so-and-so system increases by 7 points' you can just click the st

Oh...and just to complain about Wal-Mart (which doesn't have GalCiv, at least around here), they sell games like 'Humvee Assault' or games about the recently concluded Second Gulf War, which have phrases like 'The Axis of Evil Must Be Destroyed!!!!' or 'Hunt Terrorists...at any cost!' on their boxes. One could say these games are potentially more politically damaging than a stupid game like Postal 2, which will just teach you that Gary Coleman really does suck. ~SDC~
Patriot 2 just got shot down by the U.S. Senate, btw...my officials actually did something smart. Patriot 2 was ridiculous... So, in theory, Patriot 1 will eventually phase out in 2005, under the 'Sunset' provisions. But, they did approve a measure allowing increased domestic surveillance on people who aren't necessarily suspected of being in any major terror cell. So, a mixed bag, but a good compromise if you ask me. As for video games, the poster from Australia: I feel for yo
I'm in the US...I downloaded it, when I easily could have bought it (at the same price) and it worked wonderfully. I think this sort of thing is the answer. It's a credible and efficient way of getting what you want (the game, NOW) and Stardock getting what it wants (wide availability). If you don't have a credit card, I dunno. Get a debit card, maybe? ~SDC~
If what I'm hearing about re-calculation of influence is true, I'd like to see that eliminated. Increase the size of the save game file if you must, but maintain the integrity of the data. ~SDC~
If you guys are taking a strategy game personally, it's time to format your hard drives. From a consumer point of view, which is more or less the bottom line as far as the producers/distributors are concerned, moo3 is a tremendous flop. There are multiple explanations as to why this is. I personally feel that Quicksilver did a fairly good job with what they had, but I have owned GalCiv and Moo3 each for about two weeks, and have received 10x the support for GalCiv than I have for Moo3.
The reason MOO3 sucked on release is because Quicksilver essentially overhauled the entire game instead of releasing it for the holidays. Don't blame Infogrames...they have tons of good products, and, yes, they are the distributor for GalCiv. I thought the ad was funny, given the comparison between the two. I, too, think MOO3 is a potentially brilliant game. .potentially. .but I don't think a patch is going to save it, and the financial failure is already obvious. I don't think we'll se
The nerf will be with you.... ...always. :D ~SDC~
This is the one area in which MOO3 excels...the senate. I love the senate. I think the influence system of GalCiv is better, and I think if you marry it to the customizable bills of MOO3, you've got an entirely new way of playing the game, and an added importance for diplomacy. Think about it. If this is added, Galactic Civilizations will, hands down, have the best diplomacy system in any game, ever. I'd also like to see a role for the minor races in the senate. Maybe they have
Some more thoughts...nagging little stuff, mostly... Whoever suggested a keypress for research...yes! Simpler = better. By the end stages of the game, especially after you've played a few times through, you don't need to be reading the tech description every time...so just hit return and go on. The mouse tends to hover during cinematics. Any way to make it vanish into the background? I'd like to see some more storyline development. GalCiv is supposed to be an epic stor
1) Fleet Combat: This can include boarding options, weapon animations, etc., as much or as little as is possible/practical. This is probably the biggest thing I've seen people requesting. 2) Improved Diplomacy: Make it possible to propose generalized bills to the UP, and add a 'request support on...' option to negotiations. Think, you can trade money and influence in exchange for the passage of your bill...pretty realistic, eh? 3) More Races: I admit this is nigh impossible giv
I purchased through download and had the stuff mailed. It worked perfectly. I didn't do it specifically to show support for this, I did it because it was EASY! ~SDC~
Also...more IS better. GalCiv has an engine that works, so FEED IT. New civs, new alignments, new techs, and keep an emphasis on alignment. ~SDC~
I would like to see more diplomacy options. First, I think that you should be able to propose bills to the United Planets, and also consult on them so you have some idea of how people are going to vote. I don't like referencing another game, but basically, take what GalCiv has in diplomacy and mash it together with that MOO3 has in diplomacy, and you have the perfect diplomacy system, more or less. Summed up: 1) Ability to set UP agenda 2) Demand/Request other civ to Declar
